Phase transformations in the nitrocarburizing surface of carbon steels revisited by microstructure and property characterizations
TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure and properties of a nitrocarburized surface were revisited by characterisation in association with a controlled nitro-carburizing process by which the microstructures and property of the surface are adjustable.

A double strengthened surface layer fabricated by nitro-chromizing on carbon steel
TL;DR: In this paper, a double strengthened surface with a chromized layer and a N/C-rich diffusion layer was fabricated on a carbon steel by a nitro-chromizing process, and the effect of chromizing time and cooling method on the microstructure and property of the nitrochromized surface layers was investigated.

An Electron Microscopy Study of Vein-like Grain Boundary Microstructure in Nitrocarburized Low Carbon Steels
TL;DR: The electron probe X-ray microanalysis showed that such vein-like GBs are rich in nitrogen and carbon atoms as discussed by the authors. But the results were limited to a single grain boundary with an orientation relationship of {0001}e//{111}γ′.
