Experimental and numerical study of metal-oxides/water nanofluids as coolant in photovoltaic thermal systems (PVT)

Concentrated photovoltaic thermal (CPVT) solar collectors have been gaining ever-increasing attention from the scientific community and industrial developers due to their promising potential to pave the way for the penetration of solar energy into modern day power generation technologies. CPVTs׳ flexibility, manufacturability, high efficiency, and multi-output nature inspired many innovative designs and design improvements available in the literature. In this study, a comprehensive, up-to-date review of the governing scientific basics, system variations, and technological advances in CPVT systems will be presented. The study is split into two parts. The first part covers CPVTs׳ characteristics and design considerations in addition to a review of the principals and technological advances in the solar components that compose a CPVT (i.e., photovoltaic cells, solar thermal collectors, concentrator optics, tracking mechanisms, concentrated photovoltaics, and concentrated solar thermal systems). While the second part thoroughly covers CPVTs׳ published studies, application areas, performance assessment, commercial initiatives, and research prospects.

The utility model relates to a high concentration photovoltaic generating heat supply system, comprising a solar energy photovoltaic battery assembly, a high hot-fluid density radiator, a high power adjustable concentrating device, a double shaft automatic tracking device, etc. The high power adjustable concentrating device is installed on a main framework of the double shaft automatic tracking device and reflects and focuses sunlight on the solar energy photovoltaic battery assembly through tracking the sun in real time; the solar energy photovoltaic battery assembly is located at a focus position of the high power adjustable concentrating device and is in direct lamination connection with the high hot-fluid density radiator to convert solar energy into electric energy; meanwhile residual heat energy is take away by a radiator to realize solar energy photoelectric photo-thermal comprehensive utilization. According to the utility model, the problems of low efficiency or even battery damage caused by nonuniform sunlight intensity distribution and nonadjustable concentration ratio in high concentration and excess temperature of a photovoltaic battery; the structure is simple, condensation multiple is adjustable and windproof performance and stability are good; hot water can be provided at the same time of power generation, and comprehensive efficiency of a focusing system can be raised.

High concentration photovoltaic generating heat supply system

A multi-plane reflecting mirror solar energy light condensing device comprises a basic component, a rotation component, a plane mirror supporting structure, and a multi-plane reflecting mirror array. The multi-plane reflecting mirror array comprises a plurality of independent single plane reflecting mirrors. The plane supporting structure comprises an H-shaped main frame and a plurality of parallel supporting bars fixed on the H-shaped main frame. The plurality of independent single plane reflecting mirrors are connected with the parallel supporting bars through a universal joint bracket. The rotation component comprises an electric rotary disk and an electric push rod. The pitching angle of the H-shaped main frame is adjusted through the telescoping of the electric push rod, so that the multi-plane reflecting mirror array tracks the elevation angle of the sun. The multi-plane reflecting mirror array tracks the position angle of the sun through the rotation of the electric rotary disk. The multi-plane reflecting mirror solar energy light condensing device can acquire the most uniform focusing light spots, and completely solves the problem of efficiency decrease caused by the nonuniform light condensing in photovoltaic power generation, the structure is simple, and the cost is low.

Provided is a photovoltaic module cooling unit, comprising water inlets, water outlets, an outer cavity wall, fins, and a metal casing cavity. The two water inlets are disposed on an end of a bottom of the box-shaped rectangular metal casing cavity which has an opening on an upper part. The two water outlets are disposed on the other end of a bottom of the metal casing. The fins are disposed in an area between the two water inlets and the two water outlets. Height of the fins is the same with thickness of the metal casing cavity. Four edges of a to-be-cooled photovoltaic module is fixed on the outer cavity wall and the photovoltaic module is directly stuck on an opening portion of the metal casing cavity. A bottom surface of the photovoltaic module is contacted with the fins. The photovoltaic module just covers the metal casing cavity and the fins to form a sealed cooling medium cavity. The photovoltaic module cooling unit can be used independently, and also can be conveniently and rapidly combined into a large-scale cooling component to cool the photovoltaic modules. The photovoltaic module cooling unit is suitable to be used in various line aggregation and point aggregation photovoltaic power generation system.
