Moving droplets between closed and open microfluidic systems.
Wang Weiqiang,Thomas B. Jones +1 more
TL;DR: The required wetting conditions for a droplet to cross the open/closed boundary is revealed by a force balance analysis and predictions of this model are compared to experimental results, and the force model predicts that driving an oil droplet from a closed to an open structure requires an oleophobic surface.

Electrical actuation of dielectric droplets by negative liquid dielectrophoresis
TL;DR: In this paper, a general model of lumped parameter electromechanics for evaluating the electromechanical force acting on the droplets is established, which reveals the influence of actuation voltage, device geometry, and dielectric parameter on the actuation force for both conductive and nonconductive medium.

Micro-fluid mixing device with electrowetting threshold gate and control method thereof
Wang Weiqiang,Piao Yuhao +1 more
- 28 May 2019
TL;DR: In this paper, a micro-fluid mixing device with an electrowetting threshold gate and a control method for mixed control of microfluid is realized by arranging the threshold gate in a hydrophilic micro fluid channel, so that the fluid flowing in the micro fluid flow automatically flows and is not required external force due to the action of capillary force.

Droplet Ejection and Liquid-solid Separation from Covered Microfluidic Systems
Wang Weiqiang,Thomas B. Jones +1 more
- 21 Oct 2013
TL;DR: In this article, a force analysis method was used to determine the condition required for a droplet to cross the open/covered edge and demonstrate droplet movements using electric actuation, and a bevelled edge structure was developed to facilitate the final liquid-solid separation process.

Electrowetting valve on microfluidic paper chip and control method of electrowetting valve
Wang Weiqiang,Piao Yuhao +1 more
- 21 Jun 2019
TL;DR: In this paper, an electrowetting valve on a microfluidic paper chip and a control method of the electrowetting valve are described. But the valve structure is simple in structure and easy to manufacture, additional auxiliary devices are not required.
