Biopolymer-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of flower-like MoS2 microspheres and their supercapacitive properties

Molybdenum disulfide–carbon composite (MoS2–C) sample has been prepared by a hydrothermal method using Na2MoO4, CH4N2S and glucose as starting materials and then calcined at 800 °C in an N2/H2 mixed atmosphere. X-ray diffraction and N2 adsorption–desorption tests have been employed to characterize its crystal and pore structure. SEM, TEM and TG methods have been used to investigate its morphology and the weight ratio of carbon. The MoS2–C can be used as the negative electrode for electric energy storage devices using Na+-based organic electrolytes. The charge storage mechanism at the MoS2–C negative electrode has been investigated. Electric energy storage devices using MoS2–C/graphite have been constructed and their electrochemical performance has been studied.

: A molybdenum disulfide-carbon composite (MoS 2 -C) was prepared by a hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and N 2 adsorption-desorption tests were employed to characterize the physical properties of the composite. The charge storage mechanism of the MoS 2 -C was also investigated. The MoS 2 -C can be used as the negative electrode for supercapatteries using Na + -based organic electrolytes. A supercapattery of MoS 2 -C/AC (activated carbon) was constructed and its electrochemical performance was studied. The fabricated supercapattery exhibited relatively high energy density and power density. It also showed high cycle stability, displaying a 96% capacity retention after 1000 cycles.

MoS 2 -C Composite as Negative Electrode Material for Sodium-Ion Supercapattery

MoS2 was adopted as a negative electrode material for the asymmetric electrochemical capacitors of MoS2/activated carbon (AC) using Li+-based organic electrolytes. This type of capacitors possesses the working voltage as high as 3.4 V. The physical properties of the negative electrode were characterized by XRD and SEM, etc. The charge storage mechanism at the negative electrode was studied and the effect of weight ratio of AC/MoS2 was investigated. The electrochemical performance tests reveal that the capacitors have relatively high energy density and power density, i.e., 28.7 Wh/kg and 1203.4 W/kg, respectively. The capacitors also show good cycle stability, displaying a 76.6% capacity retention after 1000 cycles at current density of 0.4 A/g.
