Supporting nanomaterials having strong metal-support interaction is the key to an efficient catalyst. The present paper describes a morphology-controlled synthesis of silver (Ag) nanoparticles supported on nanostructured tungsten oxide (WO3) for selective photoelectrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reactions (CO2RR) under visible light irradiation. Highly dispersed Ag on WO3 nanorod was synthesized by a one-pot preparation method in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The synthesis strategy remained intact and reproduced by varying loading of Ag, which was further confirmed by various characterization techniques like XRD, SEM, TEM, STEM elemental mapping, Raman, XPS, FT-IR, and BET analysis. The morphological growth of the WO3 nanorod (NR) and the related mechanism was studied and discussed in the paper. 1.5 wt % Ag showed optimum loading for high dispersion over WO3-NR and efficient CO2RR with high current density (0.4 mA cm−2), towards the desired selective product formation (formic acid). The efficiency of the catalyst was further correlated with cluster vacancies on the interface of Ag particle and WO3 nanorod by positron doppler broadening (DB) spectroscopy.

Morphology controlled synthesis of 2D heterostructure Ag/WO3 nanocomposites for enhanced photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction performance

The rational design of highly active and stable atomically dispersed M-X4 (M = Fe, Co, Ni, etc., X = C, N) -based catalysts holds promises for wide application in almost all realms of catalysis. Despite great effort in the construction of specific M-X4 centers, the possible effect of non-coordinated heteroatoms on the catalytic activity of metal centers has been rarely explored. Herein, we develop a new type of M-X4 catalyst composed of Fe-N4 centers and non-coordinated B heteroatoms (FeNC+B) and find the key role of non-coordinated B adjacent to Fe-N4 centers in tailoring their electron density and final catalytic selectivity. The experimental and theoretical results demonstrated that non-coordinated boron atoms could decrease the electron density of Fe-N4 centers to a suitable level and thus boost the selective production of nitriles from amine oxidation by depressing the formation of imines due to the flattened energy barrier of the reversible conversion of imines back to amines. As a reusable heterocatalyst, the state-of-the-art FeNC+B catalyst provides a turn-over frequency (TOF) value of 21.6 molbenzonitrile·molFe−1·h−1 (100 °C), outpacing that of bench-marked nonnoble-metal-based homogeneous catalyst by a factor of 3.4.

Synergy of Fe-N4 and non-coordinated boron atoms for highly selective oxidation of amine into nitrile

The main object of this book chapter is an introduction and presentation of mobile robot path planning using continuous laser scanning, which has significant advantages compared with discrete laser scanning. A general introduction to laser scanning systems is given, whereby a novel technical vision system (TVS) using the dynamic triangulation measurement method for 3D coordinate determination is found suitable for accomplishing this task of mobile robot path planning. Furthermore, methods and algorithms for mobile robot road maps and path planning are presented and compared.

Mobile Robot Path Planning Using Continuous Laser Scanning

This study demonstrates that the electron beam irradiation of materials, typically used in characterization measurements, could be employed for advanced fabrication, modification, and functionalization of composites. We developed irradiation equipment using an electron beam irradiation source to be applied in materials modification. Using this equipment, the formation of a thick Ag film on the Ag3PO4 semiconductor is carried out by electron beam irradiation for the first time. This is confirmed by various experimental techniques (X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. Our calculations demonstrate that, at the earlier stages, metallic Ag growth is initiated preferentially at the (110) surface, with the reduction of surface Ag cations forming metallic Ag clusters. As the (100) and (111) surfaces have smaller numbers of exposed Ag cations, the reductions on these surfaces are slower and are accompanied by the formation of O2 molecules.

Hybrid time–frequency domain equalization based on sign–sign joint decision multimodulus algorithm for 6×6 mode division multiplexing system

Heterostructure Ag@WO 3- x Composites with High Selectivity for Breaking Azo-bond

In this paper, the frequency-domain multimodulus blind equalization algorithm (FD-MMA) is proposed to implement mode demultiplexing for a 2 × 2 mode division multiplexing system. The performance of this algorithm is compared with the time-domain MMA (TD-MMA) and frequency-domain decision-directed least mean square algorithm (FD-LMS). Compared with TD-MMA, the FD-MMA reduces the computational complexity significantly while maintaining the same performance. Compared with FD-LMS, the FD-MMA has a better performance in BER with similar computational complexity. As for 16QAM format, the average OSNR of FD-MMA improves 2.5 dB at a BER of 10−3; as for 64QAM, it has an improvement of 7 dB.
