Burnout Among School Staff: A Longitudinal Analysis of Leadership, Connectedness, and Psychological Safety

Fatigue is one of the most prevalent symptoms in cancer patients. It can occur at any time throughout the course of the disease: at time of diagnosis, during treatment and even months to years after completion of therapy. Prevalence estimates have ranged from 15% to 90% of all cancer patients, depending on methods used for measuring fatigue and patient group characteristics. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) has an adverse effect on quality of life, physical functioning and can significantly affect daily activities, in some cases more than any other cancer-related symptom. It can also be a risk factor for reduced survival so awareness, early diagnosis and effective intervention are necessary. Despite its impact on patients and caregivers, fatigue is underreported and underrecognized, and remains undertreated among patients with cancer. The causes of CRF are multifactorial and poorly understood. This is the why alleviating CRF is a challenge for physicians and patients. Management of fatigue is cause-specific when conditions known to contribute to fatigue can be identified and treated. Otherwise treatment modalities for CRF are nonspecific and include nonpharmacologic interventions such as psychosocial interventions, exercise, sleep therapy, acupuncture and yoga, while pharmacologic interventions include psychostimulants, antidepressants and corticosteroids. This paper focuses on prevalence, pathogenesis, assessment and possible treatment of cancer-related fatigue.

Introduction: Lung cancer is often a malignant disease and one of the leading causes of death. It hes been the most common malignant disease in male population for years and has also become more frequent in fe male population. Health care and emotional support to these patients is of considerable inportance. If one of the family members is diagnosed with this disease, the family often experience problems overcomeing and understanding their own reactions in that situation. The aim of this study was to investigate to which extend the patients are informed about their disease.the awareness of patients about their disease, as well as to examine how wich family members are willing to support a sick member of their family. Methods: The study included patients suffering from lung cancer who were admitted to the Oncology Department of the University Clinical Centre in Foca for chemotherapy. After the end of the treatment patients were discharged to home health care treatment. During the home visits, patients and familiy members were interviewed. The sample consisted of N = 18 patients, and N = 18 their family members who cared for the patient at home. Patients were interviewed by means of anonymous questionnaire, and the results are displayed graphically. Results: The results showed that the respondents were quite well informed about their disease, although it sometimes happened that they did not sufficiently understand well enough given information. Half of the respondents (50% of them) were not adequately informed about the side effects of chemotherapy. Two-thirds (78%) of the family members were willing to support a sick family member, and even up to 34% of them where reluctant to seek help from health professionals. Conclusion: It is believed that knowledge and information on the character and severity of the disease significantly contribute to easier acceptance of the diagnosis and encourage the patient to active participation in their own treatment. Since the health care of lung cancer sufferers is complex , nurses should be educated enough keeping pace with technological development (diagnostics, therapy, emotional support, health education, work integration and reintegration of the patient in the corresponding group and environment).

Infekcija urinarnog trakta (IUT) definise se kao prisustvo signifikantne bakteriurije u propisno prikupljenom uzorku urina uz postojanje niza klinickih poremecaja ili stanja – od asimptomatske bakteriurije do akutnog pijelonefritisa. Najcesce se javlja u dojenackoj dobi i među ženskom djecom. Rizik od nastanka IUT veci je u djece sa prisutnim anomalijama urinarnog trakta, disfunkcionalnim mokrenjem i opstipacijom. U djece sa recidivnim pijelonefritisom uslijed razvoja ožiljavanja bubrega moguce su kasnije komplikacije, kao sto su hipertenzija i hronicna bubrežna insuficijencija. Blagovremena i ispravna dijagnoza IUT bazira se na prepoznavanju klinickih karakteristika IUT, mikroskopskom ispitivanju sedimenta urina, urinokulturi i radioloskim pretragama. Cilj radioloskih pretraga, kao sto su ultrazvuk bubrega i mokracne besike, mikciona cistouretrografija i scinitigrafija bubrega s tehnicijumom 99 m-dimerkaptosukcinilne kiseline, je da se provjeri postojanje anomalija urinarnog trakta i faktora rizika koji pogoduju recidivnim IUT. Dijagnostikovana IUT zahtjeva antibiotsko lijecenje u trajanju od 7 do 14 dana u simptomatske, a posebno febrilne djece. U vecine djece, važno je na vrijeme prepoznati i lijeciti recidive IUT i tako sprijeciti pojavu trajnog ostecenja bubrega i razvoj trajnih posljedica.

Karakteristike urinarnih infekcija u djece do 7 godina

Objective. The public image of nursing appears as a positive but has a negative aspect as well. It is based on myths, misconceptions and stereotypes, which may influence the choice of nursing as a profession, the employment and the work of nurses. The aim of this study is to explore what the attitudes and opinions of students about health care identity and respectability of the profession are, the role of the health care team, possibility to leave the country and satisfaction with nursing positions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Methods. The study was designed according to the type of cross-sectional study. An epidemiological survey was conducted at the Medical Faculty in Foca during the period 1st to 31st May 2017. The study included 60 students of nursing from the first to the fourth-year, students of different gender and age from 19 to 24 years, who, at the time of examination, attended study. Results. Most respondents, 90% are women, while the study involved only 10% of male students. Of the total num­ber of examined nursing students, 43.4% disagree or generally disagree with the statement that other members of the team value nurses. The highest percentage of subjects (93.4%) agrees with the statement that the continuous improvement is required. Ninety percent of respondents agree with the state­ment that the nurses' job is just as responsible as the other members of the healthcare team. When it comes to the desire to go abroad, the majority (86.6%) would like to do so. Conclusion. Based on the survey results, we can conclude that among students prevail discontent with the position of a nurse in the healthcare team and the country, as well as the great interest in going abroad.

The patient is the best source for information about the quality of life and it is necessary that the patient’s value system evaluates and qualitative terms. The effect of chemotherapy is the system, which means that the blood is transported to where the whole body where reacted to the malignant cells in the process of cell division and a variety of other normal tissues. Thus become supporting undesirable advent such as fatigue, which is almost always present, loss of appetite, reduced resistance to infection, and the most common and best known, nausea, vomiting, and hair loss. All of these complications affect the reduction in quality of life, and this applies to all aspects of life: emotional status, social life, physical limitations in daily performance of physiological actions. The role of nurses in the application of chemotherapy is extremely important. From the beginning, the patient and the nurse gain a relationship of trust and security to the patient feel comfortable and safe.

Introduction: Burnout syndrome is the answer to chronic, emotional and interpersonal stressors who are related to the workplace. It is characterized by mental or emotional exhaustion, a feeling of fatigue and depression with a more emphasis on psychological than physical symptoms. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome among nurses at the JZU General Hospital Nisic and JZU Health Center Niksic. Material and methods: The research is designed to the type of section study. The study included 100 nurses at the General Hospital Niksic and the Health Center Niksic, different of sex, age, level of education and years of work. The data was collected by the Maslach Burnout Inventory (BMI), consisting of 22 questions posed as a series of claims that are evaluated, using the Likert scale (0-6). Results: Of the total number of respondnents in 36%, there is a burnout syndrome measured by the total MBI score, compared to 64% of subjects with no burnout syndrome. With the help of MBI scale it was found that 8% of respondents have a high level of emotional exhaustion, 38% have a middle level, and the remaining 53% of nurses and technicians have a low level. Conclusion: Based of the results of this research, we can conclude that sex and age of nurses / technicians do not affect the occurrence of a professional burnout syndrome. The nurses / technicians working in primary health care in a significantly lower percentage have a mean level of depersonalization. Also, nurses / technicians with longer length of service show a low level of personal success (achievements).
