On Landau damping restoration with electron lenses in space-charge dominated beams
Y. Alexahin,Alexey Burov,Vladimir Shiltsev,Alexander Valishev +3 more
- 16 Dec 2020
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the Lorentz forces of a low-energy, magnetically stabilized electron beam, or electron lens, can introduce transverse nonlinear focusing sufficient for Landau damping of transverse beam instabilities in accelerators.

Nanostructure Accelerators: Novel concept and path to its realization
Aakash A. Sahai,Mark Golkowski,Frank Zimmermann,Javier Resta-López,Toshiki Tajima,Vladimir Shiltsev +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a surface wave mechanism in nanostructured materials with a strong electrostatic component was proposed to achieve tens of TeV/m gradients and focusing fields.

Beam instabilities in Very Large Hadron Collider
Vladimir Shiltsev,J. P. Marriner,Viatcheslav Danilov +2 more
- 11 May 1999
TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized recent developments in the field of beam dynamics in the VLHC and discussed various beam instabilities and ways to avoid them, and outlined possibilities for theoretical and experimental R&D.
