Communication architecture based on IoT technology to control and monitor pets feeding

This chapter presents several aspects regarding IoT (Internet of Things) and communication technology synergies for remote services in healthcare for patients with higher risks that justify remote monitoring. According to STATISTICA studies, today there are around 26.66 billion IoT connected devices, and by 2025, the installed base of the IoT devices is forecasted to grow to almost 75.44 billion worldwide, while 25% of cyberattacks will be targeting IoT devices. In the new context of personalized medicine, a series of scenarios for the use of communications services based on 5G and IoT are emerging, taking into account the risks for data security that appears in the case of these applications. Between security and high-power computing, there is a robust direct correlation, which means that low-power computing could generate inherent cybersecurity risks.

Internet of Things and Communication Technology Synergy for Remote Services in Healthcare

Technology is currently a crucial benchmark in any application area. In general, society is immersed in the era of digitalization; therefore, incorporating digital technology in different application areas has been more accessible. Nowadays, claiming that adopting artificial intelligence systems in any area is already an emerging need. In this chapter, several artificial intelligence techniques are presented, as well as algorithms and tools that have been used to provide a variety of solutions such as artificial neural networks, convolutional neural networks architecture, AI models, machine learning, deep learning, and bio-inspired algorithms focused mainly on ant colony optimization, response threshold models, and stochastic learning automata. Likewise, the main applications that use AI techniques are described, and the main trends in this discipline are mentioned. This chapter ends with a critical discussion of artificial intelligence advances.

An Overview of Applications of Artificial Intelligence Using Different Techniques, Algorithms, and Tools

Internet of things (IoT) is the extension network of the Internet. Internet-enabled objects have the ability to sense and communicate with other objects or humans. Enormous components are used to build the IoT network. IoT begins with the connectivity since IoT is extensively diverse. It is certainly obscure to find a single size fits to all the types of communication. Various solutions have their strengths and weaknesses in different network criteria to best suit different IoT applications. IoT is available in various forms. One of the different types of IoT available for deployment is narrowband IoT (NB-IoT). NB-IoT is famous due to its attractive features of low power wide area (LPWA). Though the challenges such as security, latency, interoperability, policymaking, and resiliency exist for all types of IoT network, it can be improved with careful architectural design. In this chapter, the authors highlight the fundamentals involved in building the network of internet-enabled devices. It describes types of IoT networks, different computing mechanisms in IoT, basic architecture underlying the development, applications in the expansive domain, and finally, the insight of the challenges in IoT.

Fundamental Principles of IoT

The aim of the chapter is to provide the enormous profits of the IoT systems (or) devices vulnerable to highly capable intrusions of different attackers. The vital security necessities such as authorization and authentication do not satisfactorily meet the requirements, and prevailing events are not capable of securing the IoT innovative healthcare environment from data gaps of the system security. With the number of IoT application domains growing to incorporate smart homes, mobile healthcare, autonomous intelligent healthcare communication, and smart cities in day-to-day human life, the significance of an attack in the IoT intelligent healthcare networks will become serious. As there are many issues in applying present cryptographic principles to resource-constrained IoT sensor devices, the recommended new security features solutions come with a compromise between security, feasibility, and performance. These research topics focus on evolving lightweight cryptographic results that specifically implement the post-quantum McEliece cryptography algorithm to encrypt the IoT intelligent healthcare device data, which is integrated into the classical blockchain with hashing function SHA-512. The evolving quantum computing integration with AI is together a transformational technology. The AI requires quantum computing power to attain substantial advancement to analyze the enormous data set faster, specifically the mental medical images or patient data.
