Research Progress of Nuclear Emergency Response Robot

Project Management for the 21st Century

Agriculture in the modern age is changing rapidly. The increasing global population and shifting trade policies affect the pricing, supply chain, and delivery of food products. Meanwhile, consumer preferences, especially in western countries are shifting toward organic food and sustainably-produced vegetables and fruits that require more labour. There are about 53% population of India is engaged in agricultural activities. The growing and changing demands that need to be met by an agriculture industry are now facing labour shortages and rising costs for farm work. The abovementioned problems can be solved by bringing automation in agriculture and thus modernization of agriculture came into the picture. In this work, the most primal goal of reducing the required man labour is achieved by bringing automation in various phases involved in the cultivation of crops. To achieve actions like ploughing, planting, and cutting, an automated vehicle is designed and controlled. Smart sensors and advanced communication technologies are used to achieve remote control of the vehicle. To reduce the amount of water wasted, an irrigation system is designed which waters the field based on the weather forecast and moisture in the soil. To achieve this, a mechanism is designed which predicts the weather and selects the crop for the particular season. A prototype is developed in this paper for ploughing. The vehicle is steered in all the possible direction using H-bridge driven DC motor. The motor is controlled using a mobile app and Blue-tooth communication between the farmer and the vehicle which will be in the field and thus achieving remote control. In this paper automation of vehicle for ploughing and planting is presented.

Arduino based Automation of Agriculture A Step towards Modernization of Agriculture

Hand gesture control system has been unfolding the entire humanity to quite a wide range of applications, such as human android interaction, automation & control, virtual games, 3D animations, posture recognition language, traffic signal controlling, virtual play station, etc. This glove can be used to control small scale machines and home appliances. Increased usage of robots in unfavorable cases where conditions don't stay certain like rescue operations and nuclear environment has made advancement in the modern world of army and defense. This work proposes an integrated approach of tracking and recognition of hands which is intended to be used as human-robot interaction interface (inferred from HMI (human machine interface)).

Gesture Controlled Bomb Diffusing Mobile Robot

Extending the service life of ageing infrastructure, transportation structures, and processing and manufacturing plants in an era of limited resources has spurred extensive research and development in structural health monitoring systems and their integration. Even though piezoelectric transducers are not the only sensor technology for SHM, they are widely used for data acquisition from, e.g., wave-based or vibrational non-destructive test methods such as ultrasonic guided waves, acoustic emission, electromechanical impedance, vibration monitoring or modal analysis, but also provide electric power via local energy harvesting for equipment operation. Operational environments include mechanical loads, e.g., stress induced deformations and vibrations, but also stochastic events, such as impact of foreign objects, temperature and humidity changes (e.g., daily and seasonal or process-dependent), and electromagnetic interference. All operator actions, correct or erroneous, as well as unintentional interference by unauthorized people, vandalism, or even cyber-attacks, may affect the performance of the transducers. In nuclear power plants, as well as in aerospace, structures and health monitoring systems are exposed to high-energy electromagnetic or particle radiation or (micro-)meteorite impact. Even if environmental effects are not detrimental for the transducers, they may induce large amounts of non-relevant signals, i.e., coming from sources not related to changes in structural integrity. Selected issues discussed comprise the durability of piezoelectric transducers, and of their coupling and mounting, but also detection and elimination of non-relevant signals and signal de-noising. For long-term service, developing concepts for maintenance and repair, or designing robust or redundant SHM systems, are of importance for the reliable long-term operation of transducers for structural health monitoring.

A Review of Approaches for Mitigating Effects from Variable Operational Environments on Piezoelectric Transducers for Long-Term Structural Health Monitoring

Due to the increase in student as well as institutional staff population in educational campuses and the increase in exposure with the outside world on the members of the educational campus, there is a growing concern towards a very crucial factor of any educational campus, that is, security for all the members, namely students and the staff Maintaining security and safety, and realizing a sense of comfort to every entity present in and around the campus is the responsibility of the administration body of the campuses This paper aims to analyze the various vulnerabilities that challenge the existing security system at campuses and to design an appropriate system embedded with small working units that helps in solving issues related to security at campuses using the platform of Internet of Things The above mentioned goals and objectives are proposed with the help of a case study of a Women’s University It also aims to explain technologies like RFID system for registered vehicle number plate (RVNP) identification, IP cameras and alert system using short messaging service (SMS)

Nuclear radiations in nuclear environment are result of fission and fusion chemical reactions of radioactive elements. Exposure to these radiations involves a possible risk to human health which can also be lethal. The nuclear power plants, especially the reactors are the places where such radiations are always present as the electricity generated therein is using the energy released from fission reactions of uranium and its isotopes. Human personnel are required inside the power plants to undertake certain tasks. They used to perform all the tasks earlier on their own but this being very risky and owing to certain mishaps that have taken place before, the concept of tele robotics came into being. In this paper, we have proposed a design of prototype based on gesture control which controls a robotic arm along with its base to move inside the reactor and perform certain tasks. One task which we have considered in the design is replacement of control rods. The gesture control is via the data glove and the transmission medium that we have considered is Wi-Fi using Wi-Fi module.

Robotics is the study of robots that are automated machines dedicated to perform certain arduous or perilous tasks to ease human activities and efforts. It is a branch of engineering concerned with the construction, operation and usage of skilful robots. One such skilful operation of robotics is required in the nuclear power plants, reactors particularly as these areas are hazardous for human beings to work and also sometimes when the work places are out of human reach. This paper aims at surveying the various forms of robots used as per their applications in nuclear power plants and also illustrating the development of robotics in this field. Along with the survey and review, a comparative analysis has also been done amongst the various types of robots used in Nuclear Power plant.

Comparative analysis and future trends of robotics in nuclear power plants

Indian Auto component Industry, on one side riding on the success of supplying the quality parts to the OEM's but on the other side, struggling hard to cope up with the dynamic nature of the growing market of vehicles. This paper deals with the study of PPM in Indian Auto component Industry and is restricted to the exploratory factor analysis of the research which leads to derivation of the factors for further analysis.
