Privacy in Spatiotemporal Data Mining
Francesco Bonchi,Yucel Saygin,Vassilios S. Verykios,Maurizio Atzori,Aris Gkoulalas-Divanis,Selim Volkan Kaya,Erkay Savas +6 more
- 01 Jan 2008
TL;DR: This chapter will concentrate on the previously proposed methods on privacy preserving data mining and provide a road-map for the privacy preserving spatio-temporal data mining methods.

A distributed near-optimal LSH-based framework for privacy-preserving record linkage
TL;DR: A framework which relies on the Map/Reduce paradigm in order to distribute computations among underutilized commodity hardware resources uniformly, without imposing an extra overhead on the existing infrastructure is presented.
Scalable Blocking for Privacy Preserving Record Linkage
Alexandros Karakasidis,Georgia Koloniari,Vassilios S. Verykios +2 more
- 10 Aug 2015
TL;DR: This work proposes Multi-Sampling Transitive Closure for Encrypted Fields (MS-TCEF), a novel privacy preserving blocking technique based on the use of reference sets that effectively prunes records based on redundant assignments to blocks, providing better fault-tolerance and maintaining result quality while scaling linearly with respect to the dataset size.

A Sorted Neighborhood Approach to Multidimensional Privacy Preserving Blocking
Alexandros Karakasidis,Vassilios S. Verykios +1 more
- 10 Dec 2012
TL;DR: This paper introduces the Sorted Neighborhood for Encrypted Fields algorithm and combines it with a secure multidimensional privacy preserving blocking method, which is applicable to all types of data fields and manages to significantly boost the Privacy Preserving Record Linkage process without sacrificing matching accuracy.

Advances in Privacy Preserving Record Linkage
Alexandros Karakasidis,Vassilios S. Verykios +1 more
- 01 Jan 2012
TL;DR: This chapter will attempt to present the state of the art of the methods proposed to address the privacy preserving record linkage problem and provide a taxonomy of these techniques based on their core characteristics.
