This paper articulates the novel topology for modified SEPIC converter and much suitable for renewable energy and high-voltage applications. Power circuit incorporated with one additional inductor and capacitor to the classical SEPIC converter as a voltage lift component. Hence, it overcomes the effect of parasitic effects of the circuit components (MOSFET/passive elements). Conventional DC-DC boost/SEPIC converters are utilized for renewable energy and industrial applications. But they suffer from parasitic effects with reduced output voltage, and limited with low efficiency. Henceforth, these difficulties overcomes with the modified SEPIC converter topology for maximizing the output voltage generation. Numerical simulation outcomes are presented and validate the developed theoretical analysis and the accuracy of modified circuit.

Modified SEPIC DC-to-DC boost converter with high output-gain configuration for renewable applications

This work presents a review of the main topologies of switched capacitors (SCs) used in DC-DC power conversion. Initially, the basic configurations are analyzed, that is, voltage doubler, series-parallel, Dickson, Fibonacci, and ladder. Some aspects regarding the choice of semiconductors and capacitors used in the circuits are addressed, as well their impact on the converter behavior. The operation of the structures in terms of full charge, partial charge, and no charge conditions is investigated. It is worth mentioning that these aspects directly influence the converter design and performance in terms of efficiency. Since voltage regulation is an inherent difficulty with SC converters, some control methods are presented for this purpose. Finally, some practical applications and the possibility of designing DC-DC converters for higher power levels are analyzed.

Switched Capacitor DC-DC Converters: A Survey on the Main Topologies, Design Characteristics, and Applications

In this paper, a new single-cell hybrid switched inductor DC-DC converter is proposed to demonstrate the verification of ultra-high voltage gain in renewable energy applications (REA). The modification involves adding a single cell of an inductor with a diode and double capacitor to increase voltage transfer gain. Additionally, this modification helps prevent the input current from becoming zero, pulsating at very low duty cycles. The single cell of the hybrid inductor is interleaved with the main switch to reduce current stress when the capacitor of the single-cell inductor charge becomes zero. Moreover, the addition of a modified hybrid switch inductor with a capacitor, operating in dual boosting mode with a single switch, allows the converter to achieve ultra-high voltage gain. The proposed converter offers several advantages, including ultra-high voltage gain, high efficiency, low voltage stress on power MOSFETs, diodes, inductors, and capacitors, as well as low switching and conduction losses. Furthermore, the proposed converter utilizes transformerless and non-coupled inductors. Mathematical equations have been derived for the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM) and implemented using Matlab Simulink software to validate the results. In addition, a dual PI controller is designed for the proposed converter to verify the fixed output voltage. Experimental results have also been obtained for a 200 W prototype, with the input voltage varying between 20 V and 40 V, and an output voltage of 200 V at an efficiency of 96.5%.

A New Single-Cell Hybrid Inductor-Capacitor DC-DC Converter for Ultra-High Voltage Gain in Renewable Energy Applications

In this study, a new two-input single output DC-DC converter with continuous input current is presented. Less number of components (capacitors, inductors, switches, and diodes) is another advantage of the proposed structure which leads to low cost and volume. The proposed converter benefits from the advantages of the conventional boost converter. A comparison with another recently presented converters is represented to illustrate the advantages of the proposed converter. Low input current ripple, simple structure, and high voltage gain are the main advantages of proposed topology, so the proposed structure is suitable for use in renewable applications that need maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Different operational modes and steady-state analyses have been represented. To verify the theoretical analysis, the simulation results of the proposed converter is provided.

A Non-Isolated High Step-up Two-Input Single Output DC-DC Converter with Less Number of Components


Purpose
This study aims to propose a new non-isolated Multi-Input Zeta-SEPIC (MIZS) dc–dc converter for renewable energy sources integration with different voltage levels (low-voltage source, high-voltage source). The chosen configuration of the converter is capable of performing bucking as well as boosting operations in various modes of operation.


Design/methodology/approach
Parameters of the selected MIZS converter are designed using the time-domain analysis. The selected converter belongs to the sixth-order family with two switches and six energy storage elements. State-space model of the converter is developed for each mode of operation, and using these individual state-space models, an average state-space model of the converter useful to carry out detailed analysis for different operating conditions is developed. Analysis related to operational stability of the converter is also carried out using Participation Factor (PaF)-based Eigen value analysis.


Findings
Using the PaF-based Eigen analysis, participation of the various state variables in different Eigen modes and vice versa is carried out. Performance of the converter for different parameter variations in the allowable range is determined and the same has been used to find the operational stability of the converter under different modes of operation. The selected converter has low inductor ripple currents and output voltage ripples when delivering the power to load.


Originality/value
Because operational stability of the converter under various operating conditions is one of the key performance indicators for selecting a particular type of converter, PaF-based Eigen value analysis has been carried out using the average state-space model developed for the selected MIZS converter. Operational stability analysis of the converter is carried out for parameter variations also. In addition, participation of the various states in each Eigen mode and vice versa have been analyzed for designed parameter values and also variation within the specified range of variations.


Participation Factor based analysis of PVSC type Multi-Input Zeta-SEPIC dc-dc converter

This paper introduces a Two-input Switched Inductor Capacitor Hybrid Buck-SEPIC DC-DC converter (TISICHBSC) topology useful for various DC power applications. The converter falls into a category of electrically coupled Multi-input DC-DC Converters (MICs) which can provide adequate bucking of voltage even at higher duty ratios. As it offers excessive bucking the converter uses additional energy storage elements, so it is of sixth order family MIC. It is a modified converter topology of earlier proposed Two-input Hybrid Buck SEPIC (TIHBSC) converter. A 36/12 V to 24 V, with power capacity of, 100W prototype is considered to validate the proposed concept. The controllers are designed in discrete domain based on Quantitative feedback theory (QFT) to obtain the robust performance. The theoretical analysis is validated through simulations.

Analysis of two-input Switched Inductor-Capacitor Hybrid Buck-SEPIC DC-DC converter

The paper proposes a two input Switched Inductor Hybrid Buck-SEPIC DC-DC converter (TIHBSC) topology, for Low Voltage DC-grid (LVDG) applications. The projected topology is capable of providing extra bucking with one source. On account of excessive stepping down of the input dc voltage the converter uses additional energy storage components and hence it belongs to fifth order family. Power flow is regulated between the micro-grid and the two sources operating either as an individual source or both sources combined together. A 60/48 V to 24 V, with power capacity of, 200W dc power rating for low voltage DC micro-grid is designed to validate the proposed concept. The controllers are designed based on Quantitative feedback theory (QFT) to obtain the robust performance for all requirements. The theoretical analysis is validated through simulations.

Analysis of Switched Inductor Hybrid Buck-SEPIC two input DC-DC converter

The paper discusses about the robust control strategy applied to Switched inductor-Capacitor Hybrid Buck-SEPIC Two-Input DC-DC converter (SICHBSTIC) suitable for giving wide range of voltages for different applications. The prime concern of multi-input converter topologies is to trim the burden on primary source, and also provide wide range of output voltages. Further it is necessary for MIC to maintain the voltage-regulation and load-sharing, ensuring the stable operation throughout its usage. The SICHBSTIC is operated in continuous conduction mode, and discrete-time models of converter are established for trailing-edge pulse width modulation. The multi-input multi-output (MIMO) robust Quantitative feedback theory (QFT) based control strategy is employed in discrete-domain to study and control the disturbances and uncertainties. A 36/12 V to 24 V and 200 W DC power rating is considered to verify converter robust control in simulation environment.
