High level of soluble HLA-G in the female genital tract of Beninese commercial sex workers is associated with HIV-1 infection.
Valérie Thibodeau,Julie Lajoie,Annie-Claude Labbé,Annie-Claude Labbé,Marcel Zannou,Keith R. Fowke,Michel Alary,Johanne Poudrier,Michel Roger +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that high level of sHLA-G in the genital mucosa is independently associated with both HIV-1 infection and bacterial vaginosis.
Natural Immunity to HIV: a delicate balance between strength and control.
TL;DR: Observations obtained in studies of highly-exposed, HIV-seronegative individuals, such as HIV-uninfected commercial sex workers, who have remained HIV-negative after more than 5 years of active prostitution indicate that HIV resistance may be associated with the host's capacity to preserve systemic integrity by constraining immune activity and controlling inflammatory conditions at the mucosal point of entry.
Highly-Exposed HIV-1 seronegative Female Commercial Sex Workers sustain in their genital mucosa increased frequencies of tolerogenic myeloid and regulatory T-cells.
Valérie Thibodeau,Lyvia Fourcade,Annie-Claude Labbé,Michel Alary,Fernand Guédou,Johanne Poudrier,Michel Roger +6 more
TL;DR: Characters of TLR-7, IFN-α, IL-10, HLA-G and ILT-4 expression profiles in the genital tract of female CSWs and HIV-1-uninfected non-CSWs from Benin provide strong evidence to support the implication of tolerogenic myeloid cells expressing high levels of antiviral molecules in shaping the genital mucosal immune response to prevent HIV infection.

TL;DR: The Papaya Mosaic Virus adjuvant in doses of 30 to 240 µg combined with reduced influenza antigen content was safe with no signals up to 3 years after vaccination and immunogenicity results suggest that efficacy study should be conducted in influenza antigen-naïve participants.
