Training data selection criteria for detecting failures in industrial robots
TL;DR: It is shown that coefficient of variation of the Q-residual from a PCA model built using absolute difference between measurements serves as a robust descriptor for predicting and detecting failure in robots in the one-to-many training scenario.

- 01 Aug 2015
TL;DR: Simulation results show that wear detection on the basis of comparison with normal operating condition depends on the manipulator task, whereby onset of wear was detected in five out of six axes for one task and two out of 6 axes in the rest.

Event Based Robot Prognostics Using Principal Component Analysis
V Sathish,Sithu D. Sudarsan,Srini Ramaswamy +2 more
- 03 Nov 2014
TL;DR: This paper provides a Principal component Analysis (PCA) based approach of failure prediction in industrial robots using event log information and is able to detect abnormal behavior of event pattern within 30 days before failure.
