Impact of metformin on the prognosis of cirrhosis induced by viral hepatitis C in diabetic patients.
Gisèle N'Kontchou,Emmanuel Cosson,Emmanuel Cosson,Mounir Aout,Amel Mahmoudi,V. Bourcier,Iliass Charif,Nathalie Ganne-Carrié,Véronique Grando-Lemaire,Eric Vicaut,Jean-Claude Trinchet,Michel Beaugrand +11 more
TL;DR: In patients with type 2 diabetes and HCV cirrhosis, use of metformin is independently associated with reduced incidence of HCC and liver-related death/transplantation.
Epidemiological characteristics and response to peginterferon plus ribavirin treatment of hepatitis C virus genotype 4 infection
Dominique Roulot,V. Bourcier,Véronique Grando,Paul Dény,Y. Baazia,Hélène Fontaine,François Bailly,Laurent Castera,V. de Ledinghen,Patrick Marcellin,R.E. Poupon,M. Bourlière,Jean-Pierre Zarski,Françoise Roudot-Thoraval +13 more

Impact of cytokine gene variants on the prediction and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with cirrhosis
Arige Tarhuni,Erwan Guyot,Pierre Rufat,Angela Sutton,V. Bourcier,Véronique Grando,Nathalie Ganne-Carrié,Marianne Ziol,Nathalie Charnaux,Michel Beaugrand,Richard Moreau,Jean-Claude Trinchet,Abdellah Mansouri,Pierre Nahon +13 more
TL;DR: The TNFα-308 (A) allele was the only genetic trait independently associated with risk of HCC in these patients, along with older age, male gender, BMI, and platelet count, which led to construction of a predictive score able to separate patients with HCV-related cirrhosis into three subgroups.
