Three-year results of randomised clinical trial comparing lightweight mesh with heavyweight mesh for inguinal hernioplasty
TL;DR: It is shown that compared with HW mesh, LW mesh has no advantage in reducing chronic groin pain and foreign body feeling at the operation site after inguinal hernioplasty at 3-year follow-up.

Venous allografts for infrainguinal vascular bypass.
E Rebane,H Tikko,E Tunder,Urmas Lepner,A Helberg,A Pulges,T Vaasna,S Suba,J Lieberg,V Tamm,T Ellervee,O Vasar +11 more
TL;DR: Between 1978 and 1993, 107 patients received venous allografts for infrainguinal revascularization because autogenous material was unavailable and they comprised 7.4% of reversed vein bypass procedures performed during the same period.

TL;DR: The current population-based investigation documented brain injury as the predominant cause of death followed by cardiac and aortic injuries in injury fatalities and high incidence of positive blood alcohol level among injury fatalities requires national initiatives for alcohol harm reduction and law enforcement efforts.

Twenty-four hour versus extended antibiotic administration after surgery in complicated appendicitis: A randomized controlled trial.
Sten Saar,Vladislav Mihnovitš,Thomas Lustenberger,Mariliis Rauk,Erast-Henri Noor,Edgar Lipping,Karl-Gunnar Isand,Jaak Lepp,Andrus Lomp,Urmas Lepner,Peep Talving +10 more
TL;DR: In the current prospective randomized investigation, the short (24 hours) antibiotic administration following appendectomy did not result in a worse primary outcome in complicated appendicitis and resulted in a significant reduction in HLOS with a major cost-saving and antibacterial stewardship perspective.

Single-center, single-blinded, randomized study of self-gripping versus sutured mesh in open inguinal hernia repair
Ceith Nikkolo,Tiit Vaasna,Marko Murruste,Helmut Seepter,Jaanus Suumann,Andres Tein,Ülle Kirsimägi,Urmas Lepner +7 more
TL;DR: Self-gripping mesh compared with standard Lichtenstein operation has no advantages in reducing chronic pain 6-mo after surgery, and the rate of foreign body feeling was higher in the self-gRIpping mesh group.
