TL;DR: An apparatus for encoding comprises a first domain converter (510), a switchable bypass (50), a second domain Converter (410), a first processor (420) and a second processor (520) to obtain an encoded audio signal having different signal portions represented by coded data in different domains, which have been coded by different coding algorithms as discussed by the authors.

Audio encoder for encoding an audio signal having an impulse-like portion and stationary portion, encoding methods, decoder, decoding method; and encoded audio signal
Herre Juergen,Geiger Ralf,Bayer Stefan,Guillaume Fuchs,Ulrich Krämer,Nikolaus Rettelbach,Bernhard Grill +6 more
- 05 Jun 2008
TL;DR: In this article, an audio encoder for encoding an audio signal includes an impulse extractor (10) for extracting an impulse-like portion from the audio signal, which is encoded and forwarded to an output interface (22).

Information signal encoding
Jens Hirschfeld,Gerald Schuller,Manfred Lutzky,Ulrich Krämer,Stefan Wabnik +4 more
- 28 Feb 2007
TL;DR: In this paper, a very coarse quantization exceeding the measure determined by the masking threshold without or only very little quality losses is enabled by quantizing not immediately the prefiltered signal, but a prediction error obtained by forward-adaptive prediction of the pre-trained signal.

Frequency warping in low delay audio coding
S. Wabnik,Gerald Schuller,Ulrich Krämer,Jens Hirschfeld +3 more
- 18 Mar 2005
TL;DR: The goal of the presented schemes is to obtain an ultra low delay audio coder with a good performance even at low bit rates, and to use warped linear noise shaping pre- and post-filters, and a short DFT for the psycho-acoustic model, but with frequency warping.
