Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin-1-expressing vagus nerve fibers mediate IL-1β induced hypothermia and reflex anti-inflammatory responses
Harold A. Silverman,Aisling Tynan,Tyler D. Hepler,Eric L. Chang,Manojkumar Gunasekaran,Jian Hua Li,Tomás S. Huerta,Tea Tsaava,Qing Chang,Meghan E. Addorisio,Adrian C Chen,Dane A. Thompson,Valentin A. Pavlov,Michael Barnes,Kevin J. Tracey,Sangeeta S. Chavan +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the role of TRPA1 during IL-1β-mediated neuronal activation was investigated, and it was shown that TRPA 1 signals in the afferent arm of a reflex anti-inflammatory response which inhibits cytokine release, induces hypothermia, and reduces the mortality of infection.
High-frequency electrical stimulation attenuates neuronal release of inflammatory mediators and ameliorates neuropathic pain
Huan Yang,Timir Baran Datta-Chaudhuri,Sam J. George,Bilal Haider,Jason Wong,Tyler D. Hepler,Ulf Andersson,Michael Brines,Kevin J. Tracey,Sangeeta S. Chavan +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , the effects of highfrequency electrical nerve stimulation (HFES) on local neuroinflammatory mediator release and hyperalgesia were assessed in vivo using optogenetic paw stimulation and the neuropathic pain model of chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve.

Circulating extracellular choline acetyltransferase regulates inflammation.
Arielle Gabalski,Aisling Tynan,Tea Tsaava,Jian Hua Li,Diana Lee,Tyler D. Hepler,Daniel M. Hide,Sam J. George,Carlos E. Bravo Iñiguez,Dane A. Thompson,Cassie Shu Zhu,Haichao Wang,Michael Brines,Kevin J. Tracey,Sangeeta S. Chavan +14 more
TL;DR: Results support the hypothesis that extracellular ChAT activity responds to inflammation and serves to inhibit cytokine release and attenuate inflammation and support further investigation of ChAT as a counter-regulator of inflammation and potential therapeutic agent.

Galantamine ameliorates experimental pancreatitis
Tea Tsaava,Arvind Rishi,Tyler D. Hepler,Daniel Hyde,Valentin A. Pavlov,Michael Brines,Kevin J. Tracey +6 more
TL;DR: Galantamine improves acute pancreatitis via a mechanism which does not involve previously established physiological and molecular components of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.

Protective Effects of Pegylated Choline Acetyltransferase in a Murine Model of DSS Colitis
Tea Tsaava,Aisling Tynan,Tyler D. Hepler,Arielle Gabalski,Jian Hua Li,Daniel M. Hide,Eric L. Chang,Kevin J. Tracey,Sangeeta S. Chavan +8 more
TL;DR: The decreased severity of colitis in PEG‐ChAT‐treated mice as compared with vehicle‐treated controls is demonstrated and a significant improvement in body weight gain is demonstrated, providing new insights into the role of PEG-ChAT as an experimental anti‐inflammatory therapeutic modality for the treatment of IBD.
