Aspects of the present disclosure relate to the sharing of synchronization information corresponding to content among devices in a communication network. An originating device collects synchronization information related to the presentation of content to a user via the originating device. The synchronization information is defined according to reference points related to the presentation of the content to the user via the originating device, including a current state of the presentation of the content and/or additional information obtained during the presentation of the content. Based on detection of a synchronization event, the originating device transmits the collected synchronization information, resulting in the receipt of the synchronization information by one or more receiving devices. Thereafter, the presentation of the content to the user on one of the receiving devices can incorporate the synchronization information collected and transmitted by the originating device.

Techniques for notification and synchronization are described. Some techniques may comprise receiving a synchronization request and establishing an updating session connection. The updating session may be based on a delay interval parameter specifying a length of a delay interval and a collection parameter specifying one or more collections to be synchronized. When data for the collections to be synchronized is unchanged, the updating session may be maintained, and the synchronization request may be kept pending. Upon receiving a notification from a data store during the delay interval that updated data is available for one or more of the collections to be synchronized, a synchronization session connection is established with the data store to retrieve the updated data. A notification and synchronization message comprising the updated data may be sent as a response to the pending synchronization request. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to grant a renewable lease synchronization lock to a node for a file having copies distributed among a group of nodes that is unsynchronized and for which no write lock has already been granted. The synchronization lock disables modification of the file, and enables synchronization of a file copy on the requesting node to a synchronization master copy on another node in the group. A renewable lease write lock can be granted to a node in the group when the file is synchronized and when the write lock has not already been granted. The write lock disables granting the synchronization lock, and enables file modification. The synchronization lock and write lock are maintained until their respective leases expire. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

A home router and remote service provider configured to establish a network tunnel and utilize the network tunnel to remotely manage the home router are disclosed herein. The home router and remote service provider may also utilize the network tunnel to remotely manage at least one other device that is locally connected or coupled to the home router.

Secured Remote Management of a Home Network

A home router configured to receive a network registration request from a device that is locally connected to the home router and to provide the request to a service provider network through a network tunnel is disclosed herein. A device configured to provide a network registration request for the device to the service provider network is also disclosed herein. The device sends the request directly to the service provider network via a network tunnel if the device is not connected to the home router or sends the request to the home router for subsequent transmission if the device is connected to the home router.

An apparatus for providing intelligent synchronization includes a processing element configured to receive a message indicating that data for synchronization is available. The processing element may also be configured to select, in response to receipt of the message, a synchronization method from a plurality of synchronization methods based at least in part on whether the apparatus includes new data that has not been communicated to a synchronization element.
