Dyrk1 inhibition improves Alzheimer's disease-like pathology
Caterina Branca,Darren M. Shaw,Ramona Belfiore,Ramona Belfiore,Vijay Gokhale,Arthur Y. Shaw,Christopher Foley,Breland Smith,Christopher Hulme,Travis Dunckley,Bessie Meechoovet,Antonella Caccamo,Salvatore Oddo +12 more
TL;DR: It is found that chronic Dyrk1 inhibition reversed cognitive deficits in 3xTg‐AD mice and was associated with a reduction in amyloid‐β (Aβ) and tau pathology.

DNA methylation changes associated with Parkinson's disease progression: outcomes from the first longitudinal genome-wide methylation analysis in blood.
Adrienne Henderson-Smith,Kathleen M. Fisch,Jianping Hua,Ganqiang Liu,Eugenia Ricciardelli,Kristen Jepsen,M. J. Huentelman,Gabriel Stalberg,Steven D. Edland,Clemens R. Scherzer,Travis Dunckley,Paula Desplats +11 more
TL;DR: DNA methylation is dynamic in PD and changes over time during disease progression and in response to dopaminergic medications in the blood methylome, which is the first longitudinal epigenome-wide methylation analysis for Parkinson's disease.

Chronic Dyrk1 Inhibition Delays the Onset of AD-Like Pathology in 3xTg-AD Mice
Ramon Velazquez,Bessie Meechoovet,A. Ow,Christopher Foley,Arthur Y. Shaw,Breland Smith,Salvatore Oddo,Christopher Hulme,Travis Dunckley +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that chronic Dyrk1 inhibition reduces insoluble forms of amyloid beta peptides and hyper-phosphorylated tau long-term and that these reductions are associated with dramatic delay in the onset of both amyloids plaques and NFTs, suggesting that therapeutic strategies targeting tau phosphorylation will show the greatest effect if administered very early in the pathogenesis of AD.
DNA Methylation and Expression Profiles of Whole Blood in Parkinson's Disease.
Adrienne R. Henderson,Qi Wang,Bessie Meechoovet,Ashley L. Siniard,Marcus Naymik,Matthew De Both,Matthew J. Huentelman,Richard J. Caselli,Erika Driver-Dunckley,Travis Dunckley +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed comparative analyses of the methylome and transcriptome in blood from PD patients and matched controls, and found that differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were involved in the processes of transcription and mitochondrial function and that PD methylation profiles were readily distinguishable from healthy controls.
