The use of technology to improve organizational performance through corporate entrepreneurship

We focus on the governance of inter-organizational coordination hubs (ICH). We do so to advance conceptual and empirical insights about ICH governance. We are motivated by the simple observation that, increasingly, organizations are engaging in shared activities, often relying on a purpose-built digital infrastructure to support collaboration among organizations. Here we use the conceptualization of network governance to guide our analysis of characteristics of governance that distinguish low and high performing ICH. To do this we use fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis and data from 61 public safety networks (PSN) – a particular form of ICH. The analysis shows there exist six distinct configurations of PSN governance practices that lead to high performance. Common to all these configurations is competence in managing both stakeholders and the digital infrastructure. Building from the findings, we advance the role of specific competencies and network governance more broadly.

Building on the classical contingency theory of organization, the purpose of this cross-sectional study was to identify the differences of operational values and principles between private and public broadcasting organizations; an additional goal was to examine how these organizations use their operating choices to adapt to their environment. In a comparative study design between for-profit and not-for-profit broadcasting organizations as independent variables, the focus of the study was to compare 3 groups of dependent variables regarding operational values, principles, and the external environment. Using convenience sampling, the survey sample of 70 respondents included males and females over the age 18 selected for each of the research sites at Ghana Television, GH One, and Accra Metropolis. The key variables of operational values and external environments were measured by 6-point Likert scales, which were developed for the study. The measures were examined for their content validity and face validity, and they were empirically tested for their reliability and validity with collected data before testing the proposed claims. A series of t tests supported the claims that the 2 organizations operate with different principles and values. For-profit organizations focus on operational efficiency while not-for-profit organizations commit more to human development issues. Management Contingencies Between Privately-Funded and Publically-Funded Broadcasting Organizations

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between technological change and organizational performance of commercial banks in Bayelsa State. The research adopted survey design method which comprises of 100 respondents drawn from 15 commercial banks in Bayelsa State sampled with questionnaire. The study used Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient (rs) to analyze the data and test the hypotheses. The study found out that technological adoption has a significant and weak positive relationship with operational performance and financial performance in commercial banks in Bayelsa State. The study concludes that technological adoption contributes significantly to the modeled outcomes of operational performance and financial performance. The study recommended that the commercial banks should be ready to adapt to new technology and modern ways of production that can help facilitate improvement in sales and to maximize profit.

Technological Change and Organizational Performance of Commercial Banks in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State

Public sectors typically learn from crises, providing them the opportunity to improve the performance of crisis management. Through thematic analysis, this study maps out the evolution process of China’s pandemic response and emergency management systems and summarizes the characteristics of China’s crisis learning process, crisis learning subject, and crisis learning content. The findings indicate that China’s pandemic response and emergency management systems have the characteristics of crisis learning with gradual adjustments and continuous innovation. Specifically, under the impetus of China’s political factors, its pandemic response and emergency management systems have been able to learn from crises and have a complete crisis learning process. This crisis learning process includes adaptive learning, as well as single, double, and triple-loop learning. There is also a clear selection preference at various government levels, corresponding crisis learning processes and stages, and the path dependence of crisis learning content. Moreover, political accountability, attention, and pressure are the key factors opening the window of crisis learning, but the decision-making authority is the decisive factor of crisis learning in China’s centralized context. This study provides a theoretical framework for understanding the evolution and changes in the government’s crisis learning model and puts forward policy implications.
