Calprotectin as a marker of inflammation in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis
M.K. Jonsson,Nina Paulshus Sundlisæter,Hilde Haugedal Nordal,Hilde Berner Hammer,Anna-Birgitte Aga,Inge C. Olsen,Karl A. Brokstad,Désirée van der Heijde,Tore K Kvien,Bjørg-Tilde Svanes Fevang,Siri Lillegraven,Espen A Haavardsholm +11 more
TL;DR: Calprotectin was correlated with inflammation assessed by ultrasound before and during DMARD treatment, and was also associated with radiographic progression in multivariate models, suggesting that calprotectin may be of interest as an inflammatory marker when assessing disease activity in different stages of RA.
Patient global assessment in psoriatic arthritis – what does it mean? An analysis of 223 patients from the Psoriatic arthritis impact of disease (PsAID) study
Sandra Tälli,Adrien Etcheto,Adrien Etcheto,Bruno Fautrel,Andra Balanescu,Jürgen Braun,Juan D. Cañete,Kurt de Vlam,Maarten de Wit,Turid Heiberg,Philip S. Helliwell,Umut Kalyoncu,Uta Kiltz,Mara Maccarone,Dora Niedermayer,Kati Otsa,Rossana Scrivo,Josef S Smolen,Tanja Stamm,Douglas J. Veale,Tore K Kvien,Laure Gossec +21 more
TL;DR: Patient global assessment in psoriatic arthritis was explained mainly by physical, but also psychological aspects of the disease.
A CLEC16A variant confers risk for juvenile idiopathic arthritis and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody negative rheumatoid arthritis
Beate Skinningsrud,Benedicte A. Lie,Eystein S. Husebye,Tore K Kvien,Øystein Førre,Berit Flatø,Alice Stormyr,Geir Joner,Pål R. Njølstad,Thore Egeland,Dag E. Undlien +10 more
TL;DR: This is the first report of a CLEC16A association with JIA and a split of the RA association according to anti-CCP status, which underlie the rheumatic versus the organ specific diseases.
Timing and magnitude of initial change in disease activity score 28 predicts the likelihood of achieving low disease activity at 1 year in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with certolizumab pegol: a post-hoc analysis of the RAPID 1 trial.
Désirée van der Heijde,Edward C. Keystone,Jeffrey R. Curtis,Robert Landewé,Michael Schiff,Dinesh Khanna,Tore K Kvien,Lucian Ionescu,L. Gervitz,O. Davies,Kristel Luijtens,Daniel E. Furst +11 more
TL;DR: Failure to achieve improvement in DAS28 within the first 12 weeks of therapy was predictive of a low probability of achieving low disease activity (LDA) at 1 year in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
Ultrasonography shows significant improvement in wrist and ankle tenosynovitis in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with adalimumab.

TL;DR: Bilateral assessments of ECU, TB, and FDL tendons were as sensitive to change as the sum scores of all tendons, and scoring of this reduced number of tendons is suggested to be included in US scorings for follow-up of RA patients.
