Potentiation of the anti-tumour effects of Photofrin-based photodynamic therapy by localized treatment with G-CSF.
Jakub Golab,Grzegorz M. Wilczynski,Radoslaw Zagozdzon,Tomasz Stoklosa,Anna Dabrowska,Jolanta Rybczynska,M Wasik,Eugeniusz K Machaj,Tomasz Oldak,Katarzyna Kozar,Rafal Kaminski,Adam Giermasz,Anna Czajka,Witold Lasek,Wojciech Feleszko,Marek Jakóbisiak +15 more
TL;DR: Potentiated anti-tumour effects of Photofrin®-based PDT combined with G-CSF observed in two murine tumour models suggest that clinical trials using this tumour therapy protocol would be worth pursuing.

Interleukin 12-based immunotherapy improves the antitumor effectiveness of a low-dose 5-Aza-2'-deoxycitidine treatment in L1210 leukemia and B16F10 melanoma models in mice.
Katarzyna Kozar,Rafal Kaminski,Tomasz Świtaj,Tomasz Oldak,Eugeniusz K Machaj,Piotr J. Wysocki,Andrzej Mackiewicz,Witold Lasek,Marek Jakóbisiak,Jakub Gołąb +9 more
TL;DR: This study provides the first evidence that antitumor effects of DAC can be strongly potentiated by IL-12 and could be beneficial in an effective low-dose-based antitumors therapy.

Cartilage Repair in the Knee Using Umbilical Cord Wharton's Jelly–Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Embedded Onto Collagen Scaffolding and Implanted Under Dry Arthroscopy
Boguslaw Sadlik,Grzegorz Jaroslawski,Mariusz Puszkarz,Adrian Blasiak,Tomasz Oldak,Dominika Gladysz,Graeme P. Whyte +6 more
TL;DR: A technique of cartilage repair in the knee is presented using Wharton's jelly–derived MSCs embedded onto scaffolding and implanted in a minimally invasive fashion using dry arthroscopy.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cells from Different Parts of Umbilical Cord: Approach to Comparison & Characteristics.
Ekaterina Semenova,Mariusz P. Grudniak,Eugeniusz K Machaj,Katarzyna Bocian,Magdalena Chroscinska-Krawczyk,Marzena Trochonowicz,Igor M. Stepaniec,Magdalena Murzyn,Karolina E Zagorska,Dariusz Boruczkowski,Tomasz Kolanowski,Tomasz Oldak,Natalia Rozwadowska +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors characterized and compared mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) from three regions of the umbilical cord: Wharton's Jelly (WJ), the perivascular space (PRV), and the Umbilical membrane (UCM), in terms of morphology, phenotype, immunomodulation potential and secretome.
Differential toxic effect of cis-platinum(II) and palladium(II) chlorides complexed with methyl 3,4-diamine-2,3,4,6-tetradeoxy-α-L-lyxo-hexopyranoside in mouse lymphoma cell lines differing in DSB and NER repair ability
Marcin Kruszewski,Elżbieta Boużyk,Tomasz Oldak,Krystyna Samochocka,L. Fuks,Włodzimierz Lewandowski,Izabela Fokt,Waldemar Priebe +7 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that these two compounds may cause a different type of DNA damage and/or that the DNA damage caused by the palladium( II) compound was dealt with in a different manner from that induced by the platinum(II) complex.
