A Model for Nanoparticle Melting with a Newton Cooling Condition and Size-Dependent Latent Heat
Helena Ribera,Timothy G. Myers +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the melting time of a spherical nanoparticle was studied and a novel form of Stefan condition was used to determine the position of the melt front, which showed that melting times can be significantly faster than those predicted by previous theoretical models.
Extensional flow of nematic liquid crystal under electric field gradient
Linda Cummings,Timothy G. Myers,J. Low +2 more
- 01 Jan 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the extensional flow of a thin sheet of nematic liquid crystal is presented, which is equivalent to the so-called Trouton model for Newtonian sheets, albeit with a modified "Trouton ratio".
Variable viscosity squeeze films and bubble removal in the manufacture of panel material
TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model for the two-dimensional flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid which is being squeezed between two rigid, impermeable plates was developed for elucidate a problem of air bubble entrapment which arises in the manufacture of panel material.

Cellular automaton model for substitutional binary diffusion in solids.
TL;DR: An asynchronous CA model is defined and formally take its continuum limit and show it approaches a differential equation model derived in previous work that exhibits the Kirkendall effect.
