Structural constraints on process explanations in cognitive aging.
TL;DR: Results from analyses of 2 separate data sets suggest that large proportions of the age-related effects across a wide range of cognitive variables are shared and that independent, or unique, age- related effects often contribute relatively little to the age differences observed in many cognitive variables.
Heterogeneous ability profiles may be a unique indicator of impending cognitive decline.
TL;DR: These findings suggest that high values of within-person variability may have specificity in predicting late life cognitive decline.
Adult Age and the Rate of an Internal Clock
TL;DR: It was concluded that there is no evidence to support the hypothesis that perceptual and motor speed differences associated with increased age can be attributable to a slower rate of internal time.
Continuity of cognitive change across adulthood.
TL;DR: Stability, variability, and reliability of change, as well as correlations of changes in memory with changes in speed in 2,330 adults between 18 and 80 years of age suggest cognitive change represents a qualitatively similar phenomenon across a large range of adulthood.
Examination of age-related deficits on the Wisconsin card sorting test
TL;DR: Adult age differences in Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) measures were examined before and after statistical control of age-related differences in measures of feedback usage, working memory, and perceptual-comparison speed.
