The spatial variability of actual evapotranspiration across the Amazon River Basin based on remote sensing products validated with flux towers
Victor Hugo da Motta Paca,Victor Hugo da Motta Paca,Gonzalo E. Espinoza-Dávalos,Tim Hessels,Tim Hessels,Daniel Medeiros Moreira,Georges F. Comair,Wim G.M. Bastiaanssen,Wim G.M. Bastiaanssen +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spatial distribution of evapotranspiration (ET) using remote sensing techniques across the entire Amazon River Basin was obtained using six global ET products (GLEAM, SEBS, ALEXI, CMRSET, MOD16, and SSEBop).
Comparison and assessment of spatial downscaling methods for enhancing the accuracy of satellite-based precipitation over Lake Urmia Basin
TL;DR: In this paper, five downscaling algorithms, namely support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), geographically weighted regression (GWR), multiple linear regression (MLR) and exponential regression (ER), were used to downscale the version 7 of TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) precipitation (3B43 V7 product) over Lake Urmia Basin (LUB).

Evaluation of remote sensing-based evapotranspiration models against surface renewal in almonds, tomatoes and maize
TL;DR: In this article, three commonly used single-source remote sensing based ET models (pySEBAL, SEBS, and METRIC) were used to estimate daily actual evapotranspiration (ETa) for almonds, processing tomatoes, and maize in the Central Valley of California.

Accounting for Seasonal Land Use Dynamics to Improve Estimation of Agricultural Irrigation Water Withdrawals
Anna Msigwa,Hans C. Komakech,Boud Verbeiren,Elga Salvadore,Tim Hessels,Imeshi Weerasinghe,Ann van Griensven +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed land use maps for the main seasons (long rains, dry, and short rains) for the semi-arid Kikuletwa catchment, Tanzania.

Examining evaporative demand and water availability in recent past for sustainable agricultural water management in India at sub-basin scale
Vishal Kumar Singh,Pushpendra Singh,Sanjay Jain,Sharad K. Jain,Christophe Cudennec,Tim Hessels +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explored recent changes in evaporative demand and water availability across 100 river sub-basins in India by partitioning the actual evapotranspiration (AET) into green and blue water evapotsranspiration, and the Budyko framework is applied to long-term scenario (2003-2017) and to intra-annual averaged series (i.e. 2003-2007, 2008-2012 and 2013-2017).
