Ion permeation in K + channels occurs by direct Coulomb knock-on
TL;DR: In this article, Coulomb repulsion between adjacent ions is found to be the key to high-efficiency K(+) conduction, and the model offers an intuitive explanation for the high throughput rates of k(+) channels.
Rapid Structure Determination of Microcrystalline Molecular Compounds Using Electron Diffraction.
Tim Gruene,Julian T. C. Wennmacher,Christian Zaubitzer,Julian J. Holstein,Jonas Heidler,Ariane Fecteau-Lefebvre,Sacha De Carlo,Elisabeth Müller,Kenneth N. Goldie,Irene Regeni,Teng Li,Gustavo Santiso-Quiñones,Gunther Steinfeld,Stephan Handschin,Eric van Genderen,Jeroen A. van Bokhoven,Jeroen A. van Bokhoven,Guido H. Clever,Radosav S. Pantelic +18 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that electron crystallography complements X‐ray crystallography and is the technique of choice for all unsolved cases in which submicrometer‐sized crystals were the limiting factor.

Refinement of macromolecular structures against neutron data with SHELXL2013.
Tim Gruene,Hinrich W. Hahn,Anna V. Luebben,Flora Meilleur,Flora Meilleur,George M. Sheldrick +5 more
TL;DR: Improvements over the previous versions that facilitate the refinement of macromolecular structures against neutron data are included and a list of restraints for H-atom refinement is included.
Ab initio structure determination of nanocrystals of organic pharmaceutical compounds by electron diffraction at room temperature using a Timepix quantum area direct electron detector
E. van Genderen,E. van Genderen,M. T. B. Clabbers,M. T. B. Clabbers,Partha Pratim Das,Andrew Stewart,Igor Nederlof,K. C. Barentsen,Q. Portillo,Navraj S. Pannu,Stavros Nicolopoulos,Tim Gruene,Jan Pieter Abrahams,Jan Pieter Abrahams,Jan Pieter Abrahams +14 more
TL;DR: A specialized quantum area detector for electron diffraction studies makes it possible to solve the structure of small organic compound nanocrystals in non-cryo conditions by direct methods.
Electron diffraction data processing with DIALS
Max T. B. Clabbers,Tim Gruene,James M. Parkhurst,Jan Pieter Abrahams,Jan Pieter Abrahams,David G. Waterman +5 more
TL;DR: Adaptations to the DIALS package are described that make it a suitable choice for processing challenging continuous-rotation electron diffraction data.
