Abstract: The cooperative output regulation problem (CORP) is an extension of the leader-following consensus problem of multi-agent systems (MASs), and has been studied by two approaches, namely, the distributed observer (DO) approach and the distributed internal model (DIM) approach. The two approaches are, respectively, the extensions of the classical feedforward control approach and the classical internal model approach (for a single system) to the MASs. This paper overviews the CORP by the DO approach with the emphasis on linear MASs. After formulating the CORP, we present the evolution process of three types of DOs and the corresponding solutions to the CORP. Furthermore, some variants and extensions of the DO approach are also briefly surveyed for completeness.

The Cooperative Output Regulation by the Distributed Observer Approach

In this paper, we first construct a control law to solve the distributed Nash equilibrium (NE) seeking problem for games with multiple players whose actions are governed by a class of uncertain Euler-Lagrange (EL) systems. Then, we further consider the same problem with the Euler-Lagrange systems subject to trigonometric polynomial disturbances with arbitrarily unknown amplitudes, initial phases and frequencies. We integrate the internal model principle and the adaptive control technique to deal with such disturbances. Moreover, we consider jointly strongly connected switching graphs, which can be disconnected at every time instant and can switch among infinitely many static weighted graphs. Three numerical examples are used to illustrate the efficacy of our method.

In this paper, the consensus problem of the leader-following system is addressed by considering the false data injection (FDI) attacks. An integral-based observer induced by nonlinear activation functions is proposed. By suitably choosing the activation function, the proposed observer is able to attenuate the effects of the fault data injection attack and achieve a no-error consensus. The consensus property and the attack rejection feature are analyzed considering both constant and time-varying attacks. It has been proven that the proposed method is able to mitigate the effects of different types of attacks. The effectiveness of the proposed observer is been verified by extensive numerical examples with comparisons to recent methods.

Model-independent preset-time dynamic trajectory tracking control of Euler–Lagrange systems

In this paper, we study the leader-following consensus of uncertain multiple Euler-Lagrange systems subject to unknown disturbances over jointly connected communication networks. We employ an adaptive distributed observer to provide each follower an estimation of the reference trajectory over jointly connected switching networks, and apply the adaptive control technique to estimate both the uncertain parameters of the plant and the upper bound of the external disturbance. As a result, the approach of this paper can handle a large class of reference trajectories and any bounded disturbance with unknown upper bound.
