Multi-dimensional modeling of a thermal energy storage canister
Thomas W. Kerslake
- 01 Jan 1991
TL;DR: In this paper, a finite difference computer model was developed to analyze heat transfer in the canister walls, LiF-CaF2 phase change material (PCM) contained in toroidal canisters for thermal energy storage.
Thermal state-of-charge in solar heat receivers
Emmanuel Glakpe,Joseph N. Cannon,Thomas W. Kerslake +2 more
- 01 Jun 1998
TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical framework is developed to determine the thermal state-of-charge (SOC) in solar heat receivers employing encapsulated phase change materials (PCMS) that undergo cyclic melting and freezing.
Durability of ITO-MgF2 Films for Space-Inflatable Polymer Structures
Thomas W. Kerslake,Deborah L. Waters,David A. Schieman,Paul D. Hambourger +3 more
- 01 Jul 2003
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present results from ITO-MgF2 film durability evaluations that included tape peel, fold, thermal cycle, and AO exposure testing, and show that the film is suitable to protect polymer surfaces such as those used in space-inflatable structures of the PowerSphere microsatellite concept, during a 1-year Earth orbiting mission.
