TL;DR: Collecting biological specimens for scientific studies came under scrutiny when B. A. Minteer and colleagues suggested that this practice plays a significant role in species extinctions.

TL;DR: A phylogenetic analysis was conducted to determine the taxonomic status of Rapa Nui, providing genetic evidence that suggests that this formerly South Pacific-wide species comprises at least three cryptic species with allopatric geographic distributions.
