A container for hazardous material has an outer shell, an inner cylindrical tank for hazardous material, resilient filler material between the shell and the tank, flexible, impervious diaphragms fixed within the tank and extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the tank to provide chambers adjacent each end of the tank, and an arrangement to pressurize and de-pressurize the chambers. The flexible, impervious diaphragms act as an energy absorbent in case the container is subjected to a sudden load and in addition the diaphragms allow for thermal expansion or contraction of the hazardous material in the tank.

A combination fresh water supply and waste holding tank for use in mobile structures such as vehicles. The tank includes separate half shell portions and an extensible divider wall extending across the internal tank space between the half shell portions. A fresh water supply holding structure is provided in one portion of the shell spaces defined by the divider wall and a waste holding structure is provided in the other portion of the spaces defined by the divider wall. Each of the divider wall, fresh water supply holding structure and waste holding structure are extensible whereby selectively substantially the entire internal space of the shell may be occupied by the fresh water supply holding structure and fresh water therein, or substantially the entire internal space of the shell may be occupied by the waste holding structure and waste therein. The tank is arranged to be substantially full at all times with fresh water drawn from the supply being volumetrically compensated by waste delivered to the waste holding structure.

A tank structure for the storage and distribution of a plurality of fluids from several storage chambers located in an enclosure, wherein said chambers are constituted by several bags placed inside one another and formed by at least one fluid-tight wall made of a flexible material which, when unfolded, substantially fills the whole internal volume of the enclosure without being subjected to excessive stresses, said bags being provided with inlet and outlet valves for fluids stored in said chambers, said bags being surrounded by a housing at least one chamber forming an auxiliary chamber fed with pressurized auxiliary fluid from a source outside said housing, said pressure being transmitted from said auxiliary fluid to said fluids stored through said walls of flexible material of said bags.

A container is provided generally including a first portion configured for containing a first substance and a second portion configured for containing a second substance. The first substance is applied to process, generally for production of a useful byproduct. Further, the second substance may be a useful byproduct of the process, or may be a different byproduct of the process. The volume of the first portion may be variable, the volume of the second portion may variable, or the volumes of the first portion and the second portion may be variable, such that the first portion and the second portion fit within the total volume of the container.

Material increases in throughput and output of batch-type reactors are obtained by avoiding operational time losses in dumping and filling and startup. The improvements are achieved by a flexible divider which extends upwards from the bottom of the unit and which moves from one side of the reactor to the other to increase and decrease, respectively, the volumes of the sections of the reactor. One section can be functional while the other section is being emptied and refilled. The combined output of the sections approaches the output of a continuous reactor.
