TL;DR: The results suggest that the TCF7L2 SNPs rs7903146 and rs12255372 may not significantly contribute to T2D susceptibility in this population, however, additional efforts are necessary to replicate this study with larger populations from areas with more ethnic heterogeneity.

TL;DR: Analysis of the major Y-chromosome lineages that form the most dynamic migratory region from the Brazilian colonial period suggests that the ongoing entry of European, Middle Eastern, and African males in the Brazilian Northeast was significantly responsible for the present-day genetic architecture of this population.
