The information reconciliation protocol plays a crucial role in achieving a high secret key rate in continuous variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) systems. It is closely intertwined with a forward error correction scheme. In systems that operate under dynamic channel conditions, such as low earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems, the utilization of an adaptive reconciliation protocol becomes essential to ensure efficiency. This necessity calls for an efficient rate-adaptive forward error correction scheme, encompassing a single encoder and decoder. This paper provides a comprehensive review of adaptive information reconciliation schemes utilizing polar codes. It also explores their application to LEO satellite systems.

Application of Adaptive Polar Code based CV-QKD Scheme for LEO Satellite Systems

In recent years, the concept of physical layer security (PLS) has emerged as a promising approach to supplement tra-ditional cryptographic solutions. However, many PLS techniques rely on accurate knowledge of the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter, which can be difficult to obtain in real-world scenarios. This paper presents a physical layer security scheme designed to enhance the security of a coded multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system operating under imperfect channel estimation conditions. To achieve a high level of security, we adopt a strategy that involves a channel-dependent interleaving scheme for the coded MIMO system, and combined additional simple coding schemes to prevent serious performance degradation caused by CSI error. Simulation results presented in this paper demonstrate that the proposed scheme effectively protects the transmitted data without any information leakage to the eavesdronner. 

An Efficient PLS Scheme for Coded MIMO Systems Under Imperfect Channel Estimation

This paper presents an efficient physical layer security scheme for bit interleaved coded MIMO systems. The proposed scheme utilizes channel state information between a legal transmitter and receiver, and regulates the interleaving indices so that the illegal eavesdropper cannot retrieve any information. Simulation results demonstrated in this paper reveal that almost no information is leaked to the eavesdropper.

An efficient PLS Scheme for Bit interleaved coded MIMO systems

Quantum key distribution is a secure cryptographic technology that enables two authenticated parties to share secret keys. Information reconciliation is an essential step in continuous-variable quantum key distribution protocols, which affects both the complexity and performance of the system. This paper reviews adaptive reconciliation protocols and also proposes a new efficient scheme using systematic polar codes. The proposed scheme utilizes adaptive polar codes, where the code rates are determined by the channel condition. Additionally, a compact function is presented to set the optimum code rate for a given channel condition. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can significantly increase reconciliation efficiency and reduce the overall computational complexity by reducing the average number of retransmissions, without significant reduction in effective secret key length.
