TL;DR: The strong interaction shift and broadening in pionic deuterium have been determined in a high statistics study of the 3p - 1s X-ray transition using a high-resolution crystal spectrometer.
Redetermination of the strong-interaction width in pionic hydrogen

TL;DR: In this paper, the hadronic width of the ground state of pionic hydrogen has been determined by X-ray spectroscopy using spherically bent crystals with high-resolution Bragg spectrometer.

- 18 Aug 2008
TL;DR: The most recent pionic-hydrogen experiment marks the completion of a whole series of measurements, the main goal of which was to provide conclusive data on pion-nucleon interaction at threshold for comparison with calculations from Chiral perturbation theory.
Pionic hydrogen and deuterium
Detlev Gotta,F. D. Amaro,Dimitrios F. Anagnostopoulos,Paul Alois Buhler,H. Gorke,D. S. Covita,D. S. Covita,H. Fuhrmann,A. Gruber,M. Hennebach,Albert Hirtl,T. Ishiwatari,Paul Indelicato,E.-O. TL;DR: In this article, the ground-state level shifts and broadenings of the hydrogen isotopes caused by the strong interaction were determined by using a high-resolution crystal spectrometer, and an additional measurement of muonic hydrogen reveals properties of the de-excitation cascade of such electrically neutral exotic atoms, in particular Coulomb deexcitation, which is essential for the analysis of the hadronic-atom data.
Pionic hydrogen and friends

Theisen,Martino Trassinelli,Martino Trassinelli,J.F.C.A. Veloso,Johann Zmeskal +29 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a high-resolution crystal spectrometer was used for the analysis of X-ray line shapes in order to extract the hadronic broadening of pion-nucleon scattering lengths.
