Field-Deployed Multi-Core Fiber Testbed
Tetsuya Hayashi,Takuji Nagashima,Tetsuya Nakanishi,Tetsu Morishima,Reiji Kawawada,Antonio Mecozzi,Cristian Antonelli +6 more
- 08 Jul 2019
TL;DR: A multi-core fiber cable is installed in underground tunnels in a city in Italy, without significant crosstalk degradation in uncoupled MCFs, and with the lowest-ever spatial mode dispersion in randomly-coupledMCFs.

End-to-End Multi-Core Fibre Transmission Link Enabled by Silicon Photonics Transceiver with Grating Coupler Array
Tetsuya Hayashi,Attila Mekis,Tetsuya Nakanishi,Mark Peterson,Subal Sahni,Peng Sun,Steven Freyling,G. Armijo,C. Sohn,D. Foltz,Thierry Pinguet,Michael Mack,Yasuomi Kaneuchi,Osamu Shimakawa,Tetsu Morishima,Takashi Sasaki,Peter De Dobbelaere +16 more
- 01 Sep 2017
TL;DR: This work presents an end-to-end multi-core fibre transmission link where the 8- core fibre and the corresponding 200 Gb/s silicon photonics transceiver chip were co-designed and demonstrates equivalent performance between the MCF and a parallel SMF transmission links.

Transmission over Randomly-Coupled 4-Core Fiber in Field-Deployed Multi-Core Fiber Cable
Roland Ryf,Andrea Marotta,Mikael Mazur,Nicolas K. Fontaine,Haoshuo Chen,Tetsuya Hayashi,Takuji Nagashima,Tetsuya Nakanishi,Tetsu Morishima,Fabio Graziosi,Antonio Mecozzi,Cristian Antonelli +11 more
- 01 Dec 2020
TL;DR: In this paper, combined SDM/WDM transmission over a deployed and cabled 4-core coupled-core fibers over distances up to 4014 km for QPSK and 2768 km for 16QAM signals is presented.

Transfer Matrix Characterization of Field-Deployed MCFs
Mikael Mazur,Nicolas K. Fontaine,R. Ryf,Andrea Marotta,Haoshuo Chen,Tetsuya Hayashi,Takuji Nagashima,Tetsuya Nakanishi,Tetsu Morishima,Fabio Graziosi,Antonio Mecozzi,Cristian Antonelli +11 more
- 01 Dec 2020
TL;DR: In this article, the impulse response of cabled coupled-and uncoupled multi-core fibers over 100 nm in the C-and L-band was measured and the results provided insights to the properties of deployed SDM fibers for usage in transmission and distributed sensing.
