Human Obese Gene Expression: Adipocyte-Specific Expression and Regional Differences in the Adipose Tissue
Hiroaki Masuzaki,Yoshihiro Ogawa,Naohi Isse,Noriko Satoh,Taku Okazaki,Michika Shigemoto,Kiyoshi Mori,Naohisa Tamura,Kiminori Hosoda,Yasunao Yoshimasa,Hisato Jingami,Teruo Kawada,Kazuwa Nakao +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a full-length human ob complementary DNA (cDNA) clone was isolated and examined for the tissue distribution of ob gene expression in humans, which revealed that the human ob protein is a 166-amino acid polypeptide with a putative signal sequence and is 84 and 83% homologous to the mouse and rat ob proteins.

TL;DR: It is reported that, on cold exposure, brown adipose tissue (BAT) actively utilizes BCAA in the mitochondria for thermogenesis and promotes systemic BCAA clearance in mice and humans and suggests that BAT serves as a key metabolic filter that controls BCAA cleared via SLC25A44, thereby contributing to the improvement of metabolic health.
Capsaicin exhibits anti-inflammatory property by inhibiting IkB-a degradation in LPS-stimulated peritoneal macrophages
TL;DR: The findings suggest that the anti-inflammatory action of Capsaicin may occur through a novel mechanism, not by a VR-1 receptor-mediated one, and both capsaicin and capsazepine may be a promising drug candidates for ameliorating inflammatory diseases and cancer.

Dietary Capsaicin Reduces Obesity‐induced Insulin Resistance and Hepatic Steatosis in Obese Mice Fed a High‐fat Diet
TL;DR: The data suggest that dietary capsaicin may reduce obesity‐induced glucose intolerance by not only suppressing inflammatory responses but also enhancing fatty acid oxidation in adipose tissue and/or liver, both of which are important peripheral tissues affecting insulin resistance.
