Dosimetric Comparison of Intensity-Modulated Proton Therapy and Volumetric-Modulated Arc Therapy in Anal Cancer Patients and the Ability to Spare Bone Marrow.
Teresa Meier,Anthony Mascia,Eric Wolf,Jordan Kharofa +3 more
- 28 Dec 2017
TL;DR: IMPT can decrease the mean bone marrow dose compared with VMAT plans by minimizing the low dose spill associated with standard photon treatment, and showed significant sparing of other OARs, including the small and large bowel, femoral heads, and genitalia.

Comparison of spinal and general anesthesia approaches for MRI-guided brachytherapy for cervical cancer
TL;DR: Intradepartmental spinal anesthesia results in significant decreases in postprocedure narcotic usage compared with operating room-based general anesthesia, and when using spinal anesthesia, addition of extradepartmentsal MRI does not increase treatment time.

The value of hybrid interstitial tandem and ring applicators for organ at risk dose reduction in small volume cervical cancer.
TL;DR: In small volume tumors (< 30 cc), hybrid applicators may offer improved OAR sparing compared with conventional tandem and ring applicators, and may increase the proportion of patients meeting EMBRACE II OAR goals.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Guided High-Dose Rate Brachytherapy for Cervical Cancer.
Teresa Meier,Jordan Kharofa +1 more
TL;DR: Conurrent chemoradiation followed by brachytherapy represents the standard of care in patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage IB2 to IVA tumors (tumors larger than 4 cm or with parametrial involvement).
