Some key techniques are described on the bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization(BESO) algorithm of 3-D continuum structure stress optimization with volume constraints. A joint simulation framework is constructed based on BESO method and FEM (Finite Element Method). The framework can be used to realize the topology optimization for 3-D structure. An application case is studied on the topology optimization for the upright column of the heavy horizontal milling and boring machine, and get an optimized topology structure for a kind of 3-D hollow rectangle framework structure. Some critical model reconstruction principles after topology optimization, are put forward constructively, which include outcome-oriented, manufacturability, reliability and integration etc.

Study on Lightweight Design of 3-D Continuum Structure Based on Topology Optimization

Lightweight design is one of the trends of mechanical product design. In this paper, a riveting machine frame was analyzed and redesigned based on static analysis and topologic optimization using ANSYS Workbench software, under this premise, different structures transformed from the meta topologic model was compared with mass and stiffness, finally the frame with best properties was obtained, which laid a foundation for further parametric optimization.
