Construction of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived oriented bone matrix microstructure by using in vitro engineered anisotropic culture model.
TL;DR: This study developed a novel anisotropic culture model by combining human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and artificially‐controlled oriented collagen scaffold and demonstrated for the first time that the hiPSCs‐derived osteoblasts possess a high level of intact functionality to regulate cell alignment.
Plastic deformation mechanisms of biomedical Co–Cr–Mo alloy single crystals with hexagonal close-packed structure
TL;DR: In this paper, the first report of successful fabrication of Co-Cr-Mo biomedical alloy single crystals with a hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structure and the resultant clarification of its deformation behavior was presented.
Degradation behavior of Ca-Mg-Zn intermetallic compounds for use as biodegradable implant materials.
TL;DR: The results suggest that there is a feasibility on developing new biodegradable materials based on intermetallic compounds in which the degradation rate can be controlled by their compositions.
Deletion of Tfam in Prx1-Cre expressing limb mesenchyme results in spontaneous bone fractures

TL;DR: Bone fragility was caused by poor apatite orientation owing to impaired osteoblast differentiation and maturation, and Tfam-cKO mice bone showed a significantly lower Young’s modulus and hardness due to poor ap atite orientation which is resulted from decreased osteocalcin expression.
