IFN Regulatory Factor 3 Potentiates Emphysematous Aggravation by Lipopolysaccharide.
Takashi Ishii,Takashi Ishii,Keisuke Hosoki,Keisuke Hosoki,Yuichi Nikura,Naohide Yamashita,Takahide Nagase,Naomi Yamashita +7 more
TL;DR: Analysis of acute inflammation induced by PPE plus LPS revealed that the lungs of treated IRF3−/− mice had decreased mRNA transcripts for MCP-1, MIP-1α, TNF-α, and IFN-γ–inducible protein-10 but had increased neutrophils, suggesting that IRf3 accelerated emphysema formation based on distinct profiles of mediators involved in LPS-induced COPD exacerbation.

Differential knockdown of TGF-β ligands in a three-dimensional co-culture tumor- stromal interaction model of lung cancer
Masafumi Horie,Akira Saito,Satoshi Noguchi,Yoko Yamaguchi,Mitsuhiro Ohshima,Yasuyuki Morishita,Hiroshi I. Suzuki,Tadashi Kohyama,Tadashi Kohyama,Takahide Nagase +9 more
TL;DR: The notion that RNAi-mediated targeting of TGF-β ligands may be beneficial for lung cancer treatment via its action on both cancer and stromal cells is supported.

In vivo effects of endothelin A- and B-receptor antagonists in guinea pigs
Takahide Nagase,Yoshinosuke Fukuchi,Hirotoshi Matsui,Tomoko Aoki,Takeshi Matsuse,Hajime Orimo +5 more
TL;DR: Both ET receptor subtypes, i.e., ETA and ETB, may have physiological roles in guinea pig airways in response to ET-1, a potential mediator of asthma.

Histamine induces human lung fibroblast-mediated collagen gel contraction via histamine H1 receptor.
Masafumi Horie,Akira Saito,Yasuhiro Yamauchi,Yu Mikami,Makiko Sakamoto,Taisuke Jo,Jun Nakajima,Hajime Takizawa,Takahide Nagase,Tadashi Kohyama +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that histamine is involved in airway remodeling through its action on lung fibroblasts, and antihistamine drugs, especially H1 receptor antagonists, might be potentially beneficial for a subset of asthmatic patients.

Influences of inhaled tobacco smoke on the senescence accelerated mouse (SAM).
Yasuhide Uejima,Yoshinosuke Fukuchi,Takahide Nagase,Takeshi Matsuse,Makoto Yamaoka,R Tabata,H Orimo +6 more
TL;DR: The exposure of SAM-P/8 to tobacco smoke caused increases in its lung weight and the ratio of albumin to total protein in BAL fluid, a decrease in the EIC/TIC ratio in BAL fluids, and a decreases in the GSH content and the G SH/-SH ratio of the lung, compared with those not exposed.
