TL;DR: In this paper, 108 consecutive patients with acute myeloid leukaemia at ages 15 to 59 years were treated in a prospective controlled multicentre trial, where the maintenance therapy was at random either nothing, or alpha interferon, or monthly 5 day courses with thioguanine and cytarabine.

Drug-induced malabsorption of vitamin B 12 . IV. Malabsorption and deficiency of B 12 during treatment with slow-release potassium chloride.
TL;DR: The mechanism of the B12 malabsorption found is the regular potassium ellient factor of long enough duration to be the only caUSlDg the deficiency state of Bu.A.

Therapeutic effect of heme arginate in myelodysplastic syndromes.
T. Timonen,H. Kauma +1 more
TL;DR: It is likely that heme arginate has a therapeutic effect on some MDS patients, obviously by stimulating erythropoiesis, and the response may be long‐lasting.

Oral treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia with etoposide, thioguanine, and idarubicin (ETI) in elderly patients: a prospective randomised comparison with intravenous cytarabine, idarubicin, and thioguanine in the second and third treatment cycle.
Tapani Ruutu,E. Koivunen,Tapio Nousiainen,Tarja-Terttu Pelliniemi,A. Almqvist,Pekka Anttila,Esa Jantunen,Pirjo Koistinen,A. Koponen,Maija Mikkola,Kalevi Oksanen,T. Pulli,Kari Remes,R. Sarkkinen,Raija Silvennoinen,T. Timonen,S. Vanhatalo,Erkki Elonen +17 more

I. P. Palva,Ala-Harja K,A. Almqvist,Erkki Elonen,Heikki Hallman,A. Hänninen,M. Ilvonen,B. Isomaa,J. Jouppila,E. Järvenpää,G. Järventie,H. Kilpi,Pirjo Koistinen,E. Koivunen,K. Kätkä,M. Kááriáinen,R. Wasastjerna,Juhani Vilpo,Liisa Volin +33 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that, in multidrug therapies, the continuation of corticosteroid at conventional dosage beyond the first course does not improve response rate or survival time in multiple myeloma.
