TL;DR: In this paper, 108 consecutive patients with acute myeloid leukaemia at ages 15 to 59 years were treated in a prospective controlled multicentre trial, where the maintenance therapy was at random either nothing, or alpha interferon, or monthly 5 day courses with thioguanine and cytarabine.

Wasastjerna,Juhani Vilpo +32 more
TL;DR: 94 patients with refractory multiple myeloma were treated in a multicentre trial with combinations of cytotoxic drugs including anthracyclines, and only 10 responders among the 81 patients with longer previous chemotherapy responded.

Response level and survival after conventional chemotherapy for multiple myeloma: a Finnish Leukaemia Group study.
TL;DR: The pretreatment prognosticators for the patients with minimal responses were not more favourable than for patients with responses at higher levels, and the prolonged primary chemotherapy was favourable in patients having responses less than PR.

Wasastjerna,Juhani Vilpo,Liisa Volin +33 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that, in multidrug therapies, the continuation of corticosteroid at conventional dosage beyond the first course does not improve response rate or survival time in multiple myeloma.
