The new LLNL AMS spectrometer
John R. Southon,Marc W. Caffee,J.C. Davis,T.L. Moore,I.D. Proctor,B.J. Schumacher,John S. Vogel +6 more
TL;DR: The multi-user tandem laboratory at Lawrence Livermore is a new facility dedicated to AMS and a variety of other ion-beam analysis techniques as mentioned in this paper, and the AMS design aims and implementation are presented here, and present performance and planned improvements are discussed.

Preliminary results utilizing high-energy fission product γ-rays to detect fissionable material in cargo
D Slaughter,M.R. Accatino,Adam Bernstein,J. A. Church,Marie-Anne Descalle,Thomas B. Gosnell,J.M. Hall,A. Loshak,D. Manatt,G.J. Mauger,T.L. Moore,Eric B. Norman,B.A. Pohl,J. Pruet,D.C. Petersen,R.S. Walling,D.L. Weirup,Stanley G. Prussin,M. McDowell +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a concept for detecting the presence of special nuclear material (235U or 239Pu) concealed in intermodal cargo containers is described, based on interrogation with a pulsed beam of 7-MeV neutrons that produce fission events and their β-delayed neutron emission or β delayed high-energy γ radiation between beam pulses provide the detection signature.

The LLNL ion source — past, present and future
I.D. Proctor,John R. Southon,Mark L. Roberts,J.C. Davis,D.W. Heikkinen,T.L. Moore,J.L. Garibaldi,T.A. Zimmerman +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a prototype GIC spherical ionizer source with a 60 sample cassette changer has been extensively modified to increase reliability and to adapt it for AMS operation, including the sample changing mechanism completely rebuilt, pumping was increased in critical areas, electrical stress has been reduced in areas where failures were frequent and protection of insulators from cesium vapor has been increased.
