Search for a permanent EDM using laser cooled radioactive atom
Hirokazu Kawamura,S. Ando,Takatoshi Aoki,H. Arikawa,S. Ezure,Kenichi Harada,Tomohiro Hayamizu,Takeshi Inoue,T. Ishikawa,Masatoshi Itoh,K. Kato,T. Kato,H. S. Nataraj,Tomoya Sato,A. Uchiyama,Takeshi Furukawa,Atsushi Hatakeyama,Kichiji Hatanaka,Kenichi Imai,T. Murakami,Yasuhiro Shimizu,Tomotsugu Wakasa,Hidetomo Yoshida,Yasuhiro Sakemi +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the search for the electric-dipole moment (EDM) of laser-cooled francium (Fr) atoms could lead to a measurement for the electron EDM.
Search for permanent EDM using laser cooled Fr atoms
Hirokazu Kawamura,Takatoshi Aoki,H. Arikawa,S. Ezure,Takeshi Furukawa,Kenichi Harada,Atsushi Hatakeyama,Kichiji Hatanaka,Tomohiro Hayamizu,Kenichi Imai,Takeshi Inoue,T. Ishikawa,M. Itoh,T. Kato,T. Murakami,H. S. Nataraj,Tomoya Sato,Yusei Shimizu,Tomotsugu Wakasa,Hisataka Yoshida,Yasuhiro Sakemi +20 more
TL;DR: The existence of a non-zero electric dipole moment (EDM) implies the violation of time reversal symmetry as mentioned in this paper, and the existence of EDM implies new physics beyond the SM.

Radioactive ion beam transportation for the fundamental symmetry study with laser-trapped atoms
H. Arikawa,S. Ando,Takatoshi Aoki,S. Ezure,Kenichi Harada,Tomohiro Hayamizu,Takeshi Inoue,T. Ishikawa,Masatoshi Itoh,Hirokazu Kawamura,K. Kato,T. Kato,A. Uchiyama,Takeshi Furukawa,Atsushi Hatakeyama,Kichiji Hatanaka,Kenichi Imai,T. Murakami,H. S. Nataraj,Tomoya Sato,Yasuhiro Shimizu,Tomotsugu Wakasa,Hidetomo Yoshida,Yasuhiro Sakemi +23 more
TL;DR: The search for the violation of the fundamental symmetry in a radioactive atom is the promising candidate for precision tests of the standard model and its possible extensions and the maximum extraction efficiency of the Fr ion was achieved at approximately 35%.

Development of francium atomic beam for the search of the electron electric dipole moment
Tomoya Sato,S. Ando,Takatoshi Aoki,H. Arikawa,S. Ezure,Kenichi Harada,Tomohiro Hayamizu,Takeshi Inoue,T. Ishikawa,Masatoshi Itoh,K. Kato,T. Kato,Hirokazu Kawamura,H. S. Nataraj,A. Uchiyama,Takeshi Furukawa,Atsushi Hatakeyama,Kichiji Hatanaka,Kenichi Imai,T. Murakami,Yasuhiro Shimizu,Tomotsugu Wakasa,Hidetomo Yoshida,Yasuhiro Sakemi +23 more
TL;DR: An ion-atom converter based on the "orthotropic" type of Fr source has been developed in this article, which is able to convert a few keV Fr ion beam to a thermal atomic beam using a cycle of the surface ionization and neutralization.
Development of the Measurement System for the Search of an Electric Dipole Moment of the Electron with Laser-Cooled Francium Atoms
Takeshi Inoue,S. Ando,Takatoshi Aoki,H. Arikawa,S. Ezure,Kenichi Harada,Tomohiro Hayamizu,T. Ishikawa,Masatoshi Itoh,K. Kato,T. Kato,Hirokazu Kawamura,H. S. Nataraj,Tomoya Sato,A. Uchiyama,Takeshi Furukawa,Atsushi Hatakeyama,Kichiji Hatanaka,Kenichi Imai,T. Murakami,Yasuhiro Shimizu,Tomotsugu Wakasa,Hidetomo Yoshida,Yasuhiro Sakemi +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the permanent electric dipole moment (EDM) of the elec- tron was measured using the laser-cooled francium (Fr) atom, which has the sensitivity to the CP violation in theories beyond the standard model.
