A novel flower-like quad-band CPW-fed monopole antenna using a dual-inverted-L loop and four branched-inverted-L strips is proposed and investigated experimentally. The antenna that occupies area of 69 × 50 mm2 is demonstrated on a FR4 substrate including the ground plane. The proposed antenna is easy to be integrated with radio-frequency/microwave circuitry for low manufacturing cost. The proposed quad-band antenna has enough bandwidth to cover the GSM (880–960 MHz), DCS (1710–1880 MHz), PCS (1850–1990 MHz), and WLAN (2400–2483.5 MHz) bands for VSWR ≤ 2. The measured peak gains are 1.44, 3.55, 3.287, and 2.7 dBi, at the GSM, DCS, PCS, and WLAN bands, respectively. Good monopole-like radiation patterns and antenna gains have also been obtained.

Flower-Like CPW-FED Monopole Antenna for Quad-Band Operation of Mobile Handsets

A sleeve monopole antenna, which has a wide impedance bandwidth for indoor base station applications, is successfully realized experimentally and numerically. The proposed antenna consists of dual sleeves, loaded circular disc and two shorted pins which are connected to the circular ground plane. The antenna possesses 14-dB impedance bandwidths of 30.3% and 46.5% at the lower and higher bands, respectively. And the 10-dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is 128.2%, which is about 48 times that of the traditional monopolar wire- patch antenna. The antenna is successfully simulated, designed, and measured, showing dual-band and wide band characteristics, stable gain and good omni-directional radiation patterns.

A Sleeve Monopole Antenna with Wide Impedance Bandwidth for Indoor Base Station Applications

A printed toothbrush-shaped antenna is proposed for millimeter wave communication. The designed antenna features with a compact size is 7 × 10 mm2, and satisfies the VSWR requirement less than 2.0 in the frequency band from 32 GHz to more than 38 GHz. Simulated and measured results for main parameters such as return loss, impedance bandwidth, and radiation patterns are also discussed herein. The study shows that modeling of such antennas, with simplicity in designing and feeding, can well meet millimeter-wave wireless communication.

A Toothbrush-shaped Patch Antenna for Millimeter-wave Communication

Design of a simple and compact dual frequency monopole antenna for applications in PCS (Personal Communication System) and Bluetooth system is presented. The first operating frequency is achieved from a traditional monopole antenna structure for the frequency of 1.9 GHz for PCS application while the second operating frequency is obtained from two spurline structures etched on the traditional monopole antenna structure for the frequency of 2.4 GHz for Bluetooth application. Both simulated and experimental results, such as reflection coefficients and VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio), are presented and discussed. The radiation pattern measurements are also performed. From the measured results, the first operating band covers between 1.851 and 1.98 GHz, and the second operating band covers between 2.28 and 2.53 GHz. The proposed antenna is compact and suitable to be used for applications in the PCS and Bluetooth system.

A Dual Frequency Monopole Antenna with Double Spurlines for PCS and Bluetooth Applications

A dual-band microstrip antenna is designed for aviation and mobile application. It is using the slot loading technique and the short-sheet loading technique. Grooving an L-shaped slot on radiation patch. It can change the original current path and form two relatively independent current loops, the antenna works at 1 GHz and 2.48 GHz. The minimum return loss at 1 GHz is −32.28 dB and at 2.48 GHz is −14.48 dB. Both of two working frequencies have enough bandwidth, and can meet the frequency requirements of aviation navigation systems and of Compass Navigation Satellite System efficiently. This design is analyzed by electromagnetic simulation software, and measured results show the effectiveness of it.

A dual-band microstrip antenna for aviation and mobile application

In this article, a design for wideband dual-frequency folded dual monopole antenna is presented. By the proper choice of the dimensions of the Y-shape patch and the gap distance for the feeding structure, an additional resonant mode and wide impedance matching can be realized. Both simulated and experimental results, such as antenna impedance bandwidth, antenna radiation characteristic, and antenna gain have been presented and discussed. The lower impedance bandwidth covers from 8.78 GHz to 9.05 GHz, and the upper impedance bandwidth covers from 11.64 GHz to 12.01 GHz.
