The Promise of Optogenetics for Bioproduction: Dynamic Control Strategies and Scale-Up Instruments.
Sylvain Pouzet,Sylvain Pouzet,Sylvain Pouzet,Alvaro Banderas,Alvaro Banderas,Alvaro Banderas,Matthias Le Bec,Matthias Le Bec,Matthias Le Bec,Thomas Lautier,Thomas Lautier,Gilles Truan,Pascal Hersen,Pascal Hersen,Pascal Hersen +14 more
TL;DR: How optogenetics is currently applied to control metabolism in the context of bioproduction is discussed, the optogenetic instruments and devices used at the laboratory scale for strain development are described, and how current industrial-scale biopProduction processes could be adapted for optogenetically or could benefit from existing photobioreactor designs are explored.

CyberSco.Py an open-source software for event-based, conditional microscopy
L.-M. Chiron,Matthias LeBec,Céline Cordier,Sylvain Pouzet,Dimitrije Milunov,Alvaro Banderas,Jean-Marc Di Meglio,Benoit Sorre,Pascal Hersen +8 more
TL;DR: CyberSco.Py as mentioned in this paper is a Python software for automated timelapse experiments with real-time image analysis with automation capability, which allows users to create conditional, event-based experiments in which the imaging acquisition parameters and the status of various devices can be changed automatically based on the image analysis.
Optogenetic control of beta-carotene bioproduction in yeast across multiple lab-scales
Sylvain Pouzet,Jessica Cruz-Ramón,Matthias Le Bec,Céline Cordier,Alvaro Banderas,Simon Barral,Benoit Sorre,Sara Castaño-Cerezo,Thomas Lautier,Gilles Truan,Pascal Hersen +10 more
TL;DR: In this article , a light-inducible beta-carotene producer strain was obtained by placing the transcription of the bifunctional lycopene cyclase / phytoene synthase CrtYB under the control of the pC120 optogenetic promoter regulated by the EL222-VP16 light-activated transcription factor, while other carotenogenic enzymes were expressed constitutively.
Optogenetic spatial patterning of cooperation in yeast populations
Matthias Le Bec,Sylvain Pouzet,Céline Cordier,Simon Barral,Vittore F. Scolari,Benoit Sorre,Alvaro Banderas,Pascal Hersen +7 more
TL;DR: Researchers used optogenetics to control yeast cell behavior, inducing cooperation or cheating in response to blue light, and found that cooperation thrives at the interface between cooperative and cheating cells, with implications for synthetic biology applications.

Optogenetic spatial patterning of cooperation in yeast populations
Matthias Le Bec,Sylvain Pouzet,Céline Cordier,Simon Barral,Vittore F. Scolari,Benoit Sorre,Alvaro Banderas,Pascal Hersen +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used optogenetics to control invertase production in yeast, thereby creating landscapes of cooperator and cheater cells and showed that cooperators benefit best from the hexoses they produce when their domain size is constrained between two cut-off length scales.
