Deficient EBV-specific B- and T-cell response in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome.
Madlen Loebel,Kristin Strohschein,Carolin Giannini,Uwe Koelsch,Sandra Bauer,Cornelia Doebis,Sybill Thomas,Nadine Unterwalder,Volker von Baehr,Petra Reinke,Michael Knops,Leif G. Hanitsch,Christian Meisel,Hans-Dieter Volk,Carmen Scheibenbogen +14 more
TL;DR: Evidence is given for a deficient EBV-specific B- and T-cell memory response in CFS patients and an impaired ability to control early steps of EBV reactivation is suggested, suggesting the diminished EBV response might be suitable to develop diagnostic marker in C FS.
A NOVel ELISPOT assay to quantify HLA-specific B cells in HLA-immunized individuals
Sebastiaan Heidt,Dave L. Roelen,Y. J. H. de Vaal,Michel G.D. Kester,Chantal Eijsink,Sybill Thomas,N.M. van Besouw,Hans-Dieter Volk,Willem Weimar,Frans H.J. Claas,Arend Mulder +10 more
TL;DR: An HLA‐specific B‐cell ELISPOT assay allowing for quantification of B cells producing HLA antibodies is developed and validated, which needs further validation in a larger series of transplant patients.

Classification of common variable immunodeficiencies using flow cytometry and a memory B-cell functionality assay
Amelia L. Rösel,Carmen Scheibenbogen,Ulrike Schliesser,André Sollwedel,Bodo Hoffmeister,Leif G. Hanitsch,Horst von Bernuth,Renate Krüger,Klaus Warnatz,Hans-Dieter Volk,Sybill Thomas +10 more
TL;DR: These data suggest almost normal memBc/immunoglobulin-secreting plasmablast functionality in some patients if sufficient stimulatory signals are delivered, which might open up opportunities for new therapeutic approaches.
Cytomegalovirus-specific regulatory and effector T cells share TCR clonality--possible relation to repetitive CMV infections.
S. Schwele,Annika M. Fischer,G. Brestrich,Marcin W. Wlodarski,Marcin W. Wlodarski,Laura Wagner,M. Schmueck,Andy Roemhild,Sybill Thomas,Markus H. Hammer,Nina Babel,Andreas Kurtz,J. Maciejewski,Petra Reinke,Hans-Dieter Volk +14 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that CMV‐induced regulatory T cells (iTreg) might be related to recurring/lasting CMV infection.
Bone marrow T-cell infiltration during acute GVHD is associated with delayed B-cell recovery and function after HSCT.
Angela Mensen,Korinna Jöhrens,Ioannis Anagnostopoulos,Sonya Demski,Maike Oey,Andrea Stroux,Philipp Hemmati,Jörg Westermann,Olga Blau,Friedrich Wittenbecher,Kamran Movassaghi,Martin Szyska,Sybill Thomas,Bernd Dörken,Carmen Scheibenbogen,Renate Arnold,Il-Kang Na +16 more
TL;DR: The results provide evidence for acute BM GVHD in allo-HSCT patients with infiltrating donor T cells and osteoblast destruction and KREC appears suitable to monitor BM B-cell output after transplant.
