SIRT6 transcriptionally regulates global protein synthesis through transcription factor Sp1 independent of its deacetylase activity
Venkatraman Ravi,Aditi Jain,Danish Khan,Faiz Ahamed,Sneha Mishra,Malyasree Giri,Meena Inbaraj,Swati Krishna,Mohsen Sarikhani,Sangeeta Maity,S.A. Kumar,Riyaz Ahmad Shah,Pratik Dave,Anwit S. Pandit,Rajprabu Rajendran,Perumal Arumugam Desingu,Umesh Varshney,Saumitra Das,Ullas Kolthur-Seetharam,Sona Rajakumari,Mahavir Singh,Nagalingam R. Sundaresan +21 more
TL;DR: These findings have unravelled a new layer of regulation of global protein synthesis by SIRT6, which can be potentially targeted to combat aging-associated diseases like cardiac hypertrophy.

SIRT6 transcriptionally regulates fatty acid transport by suppressing PPARγ.
Danish Khan,Tarannum Ara,Venkatraman Ravi,Raksha Rajagopal,Himani Tandon,Jayadevan Parvathy,Edward A Gonzalez,Ninitha Asirvatham-Jeyaraj,Swati Krishna,Sneha Mishra,Sukanya Raghu,Arvind Singh Bhati,Ankit Kumar Tamta,Subhajit Dasgupta,Ullas Kolthur-Seetharam,Jean-Pierre Etchegaray,Raul Mostoslavsky,Prasanna Simha Mohan Rao,Narayanaswamy Srinivasan,Nagalingam R. Sundaresan +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, SIRT6 deficiency enhances the expression of fatty acid transporters, leading to enhanced fatty acid uptake and lipid accumulation in cardiomyocytes, which is often associated with enhanced uptake of free fatty acids via specific transporter in Cardiomyocyte.

Sirtuin 6 inhibition protects against glucocorticoid-induced skeletal muscle atrophy by regulating IGF/PI3K/AKT signaling
Sneha Mishra,Claudia Cosentino,Ankit Kumar Tamta,Danish Khan,Shalini Srinivasan,Venkatraman Ravi,Elena Abbotto,Bangalore Prabhashankar Arathi,Shweta Kumar,Aditi Jain,Anand S Ramaian,Shruti M. Kizkekra,Raksha Rajagopal,Swathi K. Rao,Swati Krishna,Ninitha Asirvatham-Jeyaraj,Elizabeth R. Haggerty,Dafne Magalí Silberman,Irwin J. Kurland,Ravindra P. Veeranna,Tamilselvan Jayavelu,Santina Bruzzone,Raul Mostoslavsky,Nagalingam R. Sundaresan +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper , SIRT6, a chromatin-associated deacetylase indirectly regulates glucocorticoid-induced muscle wasting by modulating IGF/PI3K/AKT signaling.

Antibacterial activity and characterisation of Actinobacteria isolated from Marine Bivalve Meretrix casta (Gmelin)
TL;DR: The purpose of this work was to screen the actinoba cteria having antimicrobial activity of fourteen strains of Streptomycetes which was isolat ed from the marine bivalves Meretrix casts (Gmelin) Parangipettai coastal region and four isolate s showed a strong activity against S. aureus.
