Brachial, radial, or femoral approach for elective Palmaz-Schatz stent implantation: a randomized comparison.
Edouard Benit,Luc Missault,Thierry Eeman,Marc Carlier,Luc Muyldermans,P. Materne,Pol Lafontaine,Jan De Keyser,Olivier Decoster,Suzanne Pourbaix,Marc Castadot,Jean Boland +11 more
TL;DR: In this study, local complications and length of hospital stay were similar with the three possible approaches, and brachial approach was associated with a shorter arterial time.

Impact of COVID-19-related public containment measures on the ST elevation myocardial infarction epidemic in Belgium: a nationwide, serial, cross-sectional study.
Marc J. Claeys,Jean-François Argacha,Philippe Collart,Marc Carlier,Olivier Van Caenegem,Peter Sinnaeve,Walter Desmet,Philippe Dubois,Francis Stammen,Sofie Gevaert,Suzanne Pourbaix,Patrick Coussement,Christophe Beauloye,P Evrard,Olivier Brasseur,Frans Fierens,Patrick Marechal,Dan Schelfaut,Vincent Floré,Claude Hanet +19 more
TL;DR: A 26% reduction in STEMI admissions and a delay in treatment of STEMI patients is revealed and less exposure to external STEMI triggers and/or reluctance to seek medical care are possible explanations of this observation.
Real world insights on the initiation and treatment duration of oral antiplatelets in acute coronary syndromes: a retrospective cohort study.
TL;DR: Treatment persistence with OAPs after ACS in Belgium is high throughout the recommended period and Discontinuation was observed more often in patients treated with clopidogrel and was mainly initiated by the cardiologist.

Vulnerability to cardiac arrest in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction: Is it time or patient dependent? Results from a nationwide observational study.
Mahadi Salah,Sofie Gevaert,Patrick Coussement,Christophe Beauloye,Peter Sinnaeve,Carl Convens,Herbert De Raedt,Jo Dens,Suzanne Pourbaix,Johan Saenen,Marc J. Claeys +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that cardiac arrest and ST elevation myocardial infarction triggers are, at least partially, different, and specific patient characteristics, such as short ischaemic period, cardiogenic shock and left bundle branch block, increase the vulnerability to cardiac arrest.

Quality assessment in Belgian ST elevation myocardial infarction patients: results from the Belgian STEMI database.
Marc J. Claeys,Peter Sinnaeve,Carl Convens,Philippe Dubois,Suzanne Pourbaix,Pascal Vranckx,Sofie Gevaert,Herbert De Raedt,Christophe Beauloye,Jean-François Argacha,Patrick Evrard,Patrick Coussement +11 more
TL;DR: The observation that quality indicators (QI’s), such as modalities and timing of reperfusion therapy, were associated with lower levels of mortality, underscores the potential of QIs for STEMI to improve care and reduce unwarranted variation and premature death from STEMI.
