A novel antibody for the detection of alternatively spliced secreted KLOTHO isoform in human plasma.
TL;DR: In this paper, a truncated form of αKlotho resulting from alternative splicing of the αKLOTHO transcript is believed to be secreted, thereby also entering systemic circulation and exploited a unique 15aa peptide sequence present in the alternatively spliced secreted isoform to generate an antibody and show that it is able to specifically detect only the secreted Klotho isoform in human plasma.
A Concept–Wide Association Study of Clinical Notes to Discover New Predictors of Kidney Failure
Karandeep Singh,Rebecca A. Betensky,Adam Wright,Gary C. Curhan,David W. Bates,Sushrut S. Waikar +5 more
TL;DR: Novel predictors of human disease may be identified using an unbiased approach to analyze text from the electronic health record using natural language processing tools to extract concepts from the preceding year's clinical notes among patients newly referred to a tertiary care center's outpatient nephrology clinics.
Weekend Hospital Admission, Acute Kidney Injury, and Mortality
Matthew T. James,Ron Wald,Chaim M. Bell,Marcello Tonelli,Brenda R. Hemmelgarn,Sushrut S. Waikar,Glenn M. Chertow +6 more
TL;DR: Among patients hospitalized with AKI, weekend admission is associated with a higher risk for death compared with admission on a weekday, and increased mortality was also associated with weekend admission among patients withAKI as a secondary diagnosis across a spectrum of co-existing medical diagnoses.
Comparison of Two Immunoassay Technologies for Plasma Biomarker Measurement
Insa M. Schmidt,Mia R. Colona,Anand Srivastava,Venkata S. Sabbisetti,Joseph V. Bonventre,Sushrut S. Waikar +5 more
TL;DR: Comparison of two immunoassay technologies for plasma biomarker measurement in SLE shows significant bias due to anti-dsDNA antibodies.
