A facile approach using MgCl2 to formulate high performance Mg2+ electrolytes for rechargeable Mg batteries
Tianbiao Liu,Yuyan Shao,Guosheng Li,Meng Gu,Jianzhi Hu,Suochang Xu,Zimin Nie,Xilin Chen,Chongmin Wang,Jun Liu +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, MgCl2 is demonstrated as a non-nucleophilic and cheap source in combination with Al Lewis acids (AlCl3, AlPh3 and AlEtCl2) to formulate a series of Mg2+ electrolytes, representing the simplest method to prepare Mg 2+ conductive electrolytes (no precursor synthesis, free of recrystallization and giving quantitative yield).

Nanocomposite polymer electrolyte for rechargeable magnesium batteries
Yuyan Shao,Nav Nidhi Rajput,Jianzhi Hu,Mary Hu,Tianbiao Liu,Zhe-Hao Wei,Zhe-Hao Wei,Meng Gu,Xuchu Deng,Suochang Xu,Kee Sung Han,Jiulin Wang,Zimin Nie,Guosheng Li,Kevin R. Zavadil,Jie Xiao,Chongmin Wang,Wesley A. Henderson,Ji Guang Zhang,Yong Wang,Yong Wang,Karl T. Mueller,Karl T. Mueller,Kristin A. Persson,Jun Liu +24 more
TL;DR: In this article, a nanocomposite polymer electrolyte based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), Mg(BH4)2 and MgO nanoparticles for rechargeable Mg batteries was reported.

Following the Transient Reactions in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries Using an In Situ Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technique
Jie Xiao,Jian Zhi Hu,Honghao Chen,Murugesan Vijayakumar,Jianming Zheng,Huilin Pan,Eric D. Walter,Mary Hu,Xuchu Deng,Ju Feng,Bor Yann Liaw,Meng Gu,Zhiqun Daniel Deng,Dongping Lu,Suochang Xu,Chongmin Wang,Jun Liu +16 more
TL;DR: In situ NMR technique employing a specially designed cylindrical microbattery was used to probe the transient electrochemical and chemical reactions occurring during the cycling of a Li-S system, revealing that the polysulfide redox reactions involve charged free radicals as intermediate species that are difficult to detect in ex situ N MR studies.

High field 27Al MAS NMR and TPD studies of active sites in ethanol dehydration using thermally treated transitional aluminas as catalysts
Jian Zhi Hu,Suochang Xu,Suochang Xu,Ja Hun Kwak,Ja Hun Kwak,Mary Y. Hu,Chuan Wan,Zhenchao Zhao,János Szanyi,Xinhe Bao,Xiuwen Han,Yong Wang,Charles H. F. Peden +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, high field quantitative 27Al single pulse (SP) MAS NMR combined with temperature programmed desorption (TPD) of ethanol is used to study the surface of γ-Al2O3 during phase transformation processes induced by calcination in the temperature range of 500-1300°C.
